Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences Maduranthakam - This dental college got established in the year 2007. Thiru S Regupathy’s (former Minister of Forest) is the founder of this college.
Thiru S Regupathy founded Karpaga Vinayaga Educational Group in 1993 with its maiden venture being the establishment of JJ College of Arts and Science, Pudukkottai in 1994 followed by Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences & Karpaga Vinayaga College of Nursing.
The college is known to provide excellent venue for our students to excel in academic as well as extra-curricular activities. The students are taught basic medical sciences at their sister institute Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre which is also equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The 3rd year students of the institute are also given extra care and outstanding training in basic medical knowledge in this college.
The in house-surgeons of the institute are regularly serving the public by attending rural postings, community treatment camps, free treatment camps all the while gaining valuable experience and knowledge.
The vision of this dental institute is to grow as an internationally recognized institute, attaining excellence in the expertise of patient care, medical education and research and development to serve humanity. Their mission is to develop dental education and collaborative initiatives to achieve excellence in dental care, supported by a rigorous academic environment.

The highest standard of the patient should be aimed to serve the sick and the suffering, irrespective of their economic, social or religious status.
The college offers mentorship programmes for the students. Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, students are mentored by various faculty members to provide academically sound and rewarding environment.
The institution considers student support as an essential and most important component of its functioning. In this regard, earnest efforts are made to ensure that the students progress and achievements are at optimum level by utilizing the various facilities provided to them, from their admission, to the level of placement.
The students are given training through the class room training and supplemental information to prepare them mentally and physically for clinic oriented training and excel in obtaining Postgraduate competitive exams. During their stay, students can avail support services like library, internet, hostel, , sports and canteen. The facilities provided have attracted more students over the years. Also there is a marked improvement in student performance in curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular aspects.
Their mentoring system is totally amazing. A mentor will have a maximum of 8 students (MENTEES) allocated to him/her. The mentees will be attached to the same mentor for the entire course of study.The mentors shall meet the mentees regularly and record the outcome of the meetings.The details about each mentee will be recorded and periodically updated.
The mentors also interact with course teachers and parents to facilitate effective mentoring.The mentors shall update the mentee’s parents about the progress of the mentees. If a student violates the code of conduct, his/her mentor shall be a member in the Disciplinary Committee.
The college also indulges in the personality development of the students and organises programmes as per that as well. The mentor shall encourage the mentee to develop and channelize his/her skills and talents through an appropriate forum or activity of the institution (fine arts, sports, workshops, conferences, etc.).These are aimed at the overall development of the personality of the student so as to make him a complete person’.

The college has 250 chaired dental hospital with all modern facilities to cater to the learning need of our students as well as provided excellent care for our patients as well.
The top facilities of the campus are cafeteria that offers hygienic and affordable food. A good variety of sweets, snacks, ice-creams, fruits, fresh juices, tiffin and rice varieties are available. The college also has a full-fledged Transport department functions in the college with buses to provide transport facility to students and staff from various places.
KIDS has a fleet of buses which runs through important routes in and around Chennai, Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram district. Depending on where our students reside, we recommend specific bus routes to provide the best transportation options. This transport is also used for various educational purposes like visit to local industries, hospitals, etc.
The college also engages in different physical education including sports like football, cricket, etc and lets the students take part in Inter-college and intra-college sports events. There is an indoor stadium as well as extensive space for outdoor sports. Various competitions in all indoor and outdoor games would be conducted during sports-day celebrations. The students would be divided into different houses and they would be encouraged to participate in different competitions.
The college infrastructure also houses an auditorium and a seminar hall. The college has exquisitely built centralized airconditioned Auditorium with ample seating capacity to accommodate 1450 Persons.
The Auditorium is very much outfitted with the contemporary state_of _the_art with excellent acoustics facilities. This hall is the best for conducting cultural fest, national and international conferences. In addition, a conference Room and sufficient number of seminar halls with air conditioning facility are available in the institution.
The college offers an alternate vehicle programme. All forms of motorized vehicle, except ambulance and vehicle carrying non-ambulatory patients are not encouraged beyond the stand point. All persons beyond the stand point are motivated to use the battery operated cars and bicycles. It includes life care speciality vehicle, bicycles, and battery cars. Other facilities inside the college campus are gym, bank, ATM, etc.
The classrooms and labs are designed in a modern aesthetic way. The college provide 24×7 Uninterrupted power supply (UPS) in college and hostel campus which gives backup power when regular power source fails or voltage drops to an unacceptable level.
Also, the campus of the college is a modern one suiting the needs of the modern students. The campus has 24*7 wi-fi facility. The college also indulges in green initiatives keeping the demand of the nature and environment in check. The campus strictly adheres to the motto “” Say No to Plastics”” and the same has been encouraged via sign boards, monitored and implemented.
The college also has a specialised students council for the benefit of the students. There is a strong anti ragging committee which looks into some serious matters like ragging and more.
