National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur (formerly known as Regional Engineering College) is a Deemed University located in Durgapur, West Bengal. It is a fully-funded premier Technological Institution of the Government of India and is administered by an autonomous Board of Governors. NIT Durgapur is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). It offers various UG, PG, Ph.D. and Certificate courses. Admission to all the courses is done on the basis of merit scored in national levels entrance examinations such as JEE Main, GATE, CAT and many more. Candidates scoring above the par score will be admitted. The Institute has a total of 6 rounds with a different cutoff for each category. In 2018, the closing rank of first-round for General in CSE branch at NIT Durgapur was 7454 (OS quota) and 12585 (HS quota).
