About Course

Dental course can be done after completing 10+2 in Science stream with BIPC subjects and students usually opt for courses like Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) after 12th. BDS is a 5-year undergraduate degree program and is one of the recognized dental courses after 12th in India. It mainly consists of 4 years of academic training and one year of clinical experience, during which students get practical training in health centers under senior medical practitioners. After completing BDS, you can either opt for an MDS degree to specialize in this field or you can opt for a short term certification course in the relevant specialization and Indian dentistry to practice as a certified dentist. After completing a bachelor's degree in dental surgery, graduates have to be licensed by the State Dental Council. Eligibility Criteria

  • For admission to BDS in India candidates must have completed their 10+2 with minimum 50% aggregate marks with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects from any recognized board of education.
  • Also, along with the basic required BDS eligibility criteria, students who are pursuing the course must score good marks in the entrance test from any institute to get admission.
  • The minimum age to apply for Bachelor of Dental Surgery course is 17 years.
