NEET

The full form of NEET is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. It is an undergraduate entrance test for admission to the medical colleges of the country for medical courses. It was earlier called the All India Pre-Medical Test. This test is conducted at an all-India level. The students who wish to do the undergraduate programme in medicine in India will have to pass this test to go further. It is also for students who intend to pursue primary medical qualifications abroad.

The exam is for the courses like MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, and BHMS). The exam scores are valid for both government and private medical institutions of the country. It is a very important and also one of the toughest competitive exams in India.

NTA or the National Testing Agency is the education body that conducts the NEET exams in India. They provide the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State Counselling Authorities for seat allocation.

Before NEET was introduced as the national-level medical entrance exam for the UG courses, every state of India used to conduct their entrance tests. Famous medical colleges like AIIMS, JIPMER, etc used to conduct their separate medical test as well. But, now it is NEET exams that are mandatory and accepted by all the colleges of the country. 

NEET Counselling 2021 

So, the latest news about NEET counselling 2021 says that admission to 15% of AIQ seats will be done by MCC and admission to 85% of seats is done by respective states. AIQ stands for All India Quota. The states have begun counselling for MBBS and BDS seats. The admissions under the All India Quota category are yet to begin. But, the admissions under the state quota have begun MBBS and BDS seats in a lot of states.

Apart from the admissions, the different states have also begun counselling for these medical courses. The states like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Punjab have begun NEET 2021 counselling to train medical aspirants. The counselling is for undergraduate courses in medicine. 

Odisha had started counselling on November 29th but they later postponed it. By far, they haven’t made any new announcement on the dates for the same.
