MIT‑WPU is home to a Subsea Engineering Research Laboratory, which focuses on deepwater offshore petroleum mining simulations. There are just three such labs globally, and the only one in Asia is at MIT-WPU.
The university has nurtured a Robotics team, known as MIT Tech Team (Robocon). The team has made a mark in India’s national robotics scene since its inception in 2007.
MIT-WPU is known for its deep industry and startup collaborations. The university houses an 11,000 sq ft Technology Business Incubator (TBI) that helps students with their startups. MIT is the first Indian university to integrate value-based education across all programs. All students, across all programs, must enrol in either Yoga, Peace Studies, and/or Ethics as credit-bearing courses.
Students from all programs must enrol for Innovation and Entrepreneurship courses, mandatorily. These courses extend hands-on startup incubation support via the university’s Centre for Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship (CIIE).
MIT WPU is one of the few Indian universities which are home to a UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy, Peace and Tolerance.
MIT WPU has a unique Credit Transfer Scheme and Dual Degree Options with International Universities. The university has 2+2 or 3+1 articulation agreements with top universities in the US, Europe, and Australia. For instance, students study part in Pune, and part abroad.
