Vellore Institute of Technology VIT University, Vellore was established in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the Vellore Engineering College by Dr G. Viswanathan, a former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government, under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. VIT got the University status in 2001 by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development. The university is approved by AICTE and recognised by UGC.
The global standards set at VIT in the field of teaching and research have led it to excellence. Many students, who pursue their research projects in foreign universities, bring high-quality their work and esteem to India. It offers 52 Undergraduate, 32 Postgraduate, 11 Integrated Programs, 2 Research programs, and 2 M.Tech Industrial Programs.
In addition to a full-time PhD. Degrees in Engineering and Management Disciplines, PhD in Science and Languages and Integrated PhD programs in engineering disciplines are also offered. For VITEEE 2026, candidates must be born on or after July 1, 2004, and have passed or be appearing for Class 12 in 2026 with a minimum of 60% aggregate (50% for SC/ST/J&K/North-East) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. Eligible candidates must be Indian nationals, NRIs, PIO, or OCI holders.
Key Eligibility Criteria for VITEEE 2026:
Nationality: Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRI), PIO, and OCI holders are eligible.
Subjects Requirement:
PCM: Eligible for all B.Tech programs.
PCB: Eligible for B.Tech Biotechnology, Bioengineering, and Fashion Technology programs.
Important Notes:
Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject.
Candidates appearing for multiple board exams in the same academic year are not eligible.
The VITEEE 2026 exam will be in English and held in a computer-based format (CBT). The application fee is non-refundable.
VITEEE 2026 - VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) 2026 is to get admission in the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) campuses. VIT Business School MBA 2026-28 Application selection are done through CAT / XAT / MAT / VITBEC. Students will have to give the VITBEE entrance exam to be admitted to the VIT Business School.
To apply to VIT Vellore, visit the official website, register as a new user, and fill out the application form online. You will need to provide personal and academic details, select your test city and subject preferences, and upload a photo and signature. After paying the non-refundable application fee, you can submit your application. You can also apply based on JEE Main, CET, or SAT scores.

The VIT campus is spread over an extensive 372 acre area. The excellent feature of VIT is the state-of-the-art facilities offered to students and faculty too. Completely furnished and well-equipped laboratories adorn every University building.
In addition, the campus has ample facilities to facilitate diverse activities-auditoriums, spacious open spaces, outdoor stages and more.With three fully fitted multi cuisine canteens present at three strategic college locations, VIT has been amply blessed. One at the college's far ends, one at G D Naidu Block and the Silver Jubilee Tower and one at the college's middle near the Technology Tower
Hostel review committee meetings are conducted once every 15 days by the hostel administrators to address students’ queries, requirements and to keep them updated on upgradation of services and events. Students are also given the privilege to give suggestions to improve the hostel facilities.
