Biochemical Engineering Course 2023 is a branch of Chemical Engineering or Biological Engineering. It is a branch of engineering that deals with the design and construction of unit processes that involve biological organisms or molecules. It is similar in nature to Chemical Engineering or Biological Engineering. BE/B.Tech in Biochemical Engineering is a 4-year programme. The interaction between chemical engineering, biochemistry and microbiology is the main focus of the course.
It is that branch of engineering that applies technological advancements to biological materials and it combines knowledge of biology, chemistry and engineering to create products from raw materials and develop the processes for achieving this.
This one is also known as bioprocess engineering and it is all about the study with roots stemming from chemical engineering and biological engineering. Be it the design, construction, and advancement of unit processes, this branch of engineering deals with all of those. It involves biological organisms or organic molecules. These have various applications in areas of interest such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, biofuels, food, and water treatment processes.
A biochemical engineer is supposed to be engaged in the findings that are developed by biologists and chemists in a laboratory and translate that to a large-scale manufacturing process. In fact, Biotechnology and biochemical engineering are closely related to each other. Or one can also call it as a sub-branch of biotechnology. It involves the study of converting the raw materials into the finished products through rigorous processes. Many industries rely on biochemical engineering and there is a vast scope in both domestic and foreign job markets.
The salaries of these engineers range from 3 to 20 LPA depending on the experience, exposure, degree, and college.
