Eligibility criteria for JEE Mains 2026

Candidates willing to join graduate engineering, architecture and planning can apply for this exam that is conducted on a national level. A pass in plus-two from a recognised educational institution is required to submit applications for JEE Mains. More information is available in the table below and students can refer it:

Age Limit

There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed class 12 in 2024/2025 or be appearing in 2026 from any recognised board. Candidates who have passed any exam equivalent to class 12 are also eligible to apply

Number of Attempts

Candidates can appear in the exam in three consecutive years from the year of passing class 12

Compulsory Subjects in Qualifying Exam

  • For B.Tech- Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject
  • For B.Arch – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • For B.Plan- Mathematics

SC/ST/PwD Male-Rs 1000 if applying in India and Rs 5000 if applying outside India. For female applicants of the category, the fee is the same.

Exam pattern for JEE Mains 2026

The pattern will differ for candidates focusing on engineering, architecture and planning courses at bachelor's level. Candidates keen on BE/BTech must answer Paper 1, those keen on BArch must answer Paper 2A, and students willing to study BPlan must answer Paper 2B. The question format for all three papers is given below:
