Ashoka University was established in 2014 under the Haryana Private Universities Act of 2006 in National Capital Region. The university is formed under the aegis of Rajiv Gandhi Education City. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Government of India and the Government of Haryana. The main aim of the university is to promote interdisciplinary education and advanced research in the humanities, social sciences, and the natural and applied sciences. It has four academic schools that offer Bachelor, Master and Diploma courses namely School of Arts and Humanities, School of Economics, School of Social Sciences and School of Natural & Applied Sciences and also 2 academic centres to train and develop the skills of students, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Leadership and Centre for Writing and Communication. The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in multiple disciplines.

Ashoka University offers admission to various courses based on merit in the entrance examination conducted by the university. The students qualifying in the entrance examination have to appear for the interview. Admission to the M.A. in Liberal Studies is restricted to graduates of the Young India Fellowship.

Ashoka University is situated in the Haryana district of Sonipat along the NH1. The highway connects Delhi to Karnal, Ambala, Chandigarh, and J & K. The campus is ten minutes from the border between Delhi and Karnal, in Haryana. Driving towards the campus of Panipat from Delhi, you will see a red-brick building to your right.
Ashoka University has a four-floor dining hall with a seating capacity of about 1050 students. It serves over 2,000 meals daily, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. The dining menu is decided in consultation with the mess committee. An in-house bakery prepares fresh bread, savories, and desserts.

Ashoka University Transport Facilities
Ashoka provides shuttle services from Jahangirpuri Metro Station to the campus and back. These are run using Tempo Travellers and are available for students, staff, and visitors based on a fixed schedule.
