Preparation tips for JEE Mains 2026

There are a lot of ways to prepare for the exam, and candidates can review all of them and choose what is best for them. The most important point is to adopt the right preparation strategy. This may not be all that easy, but if one is determined to succeed, then the day is not far off when success will adorn them. Here are certain tips that can help students taste success in the exam. They are mentioned below:

Know the syllabus: The first thing to do is to know the syllabus. This is nothing but the lessons one has to study as part of preparation for the test. The extent of the portions to be studied may be wide or may be limited to certain subjects. Students have to know what they have to study. This can only be possible if they know the syllabus for the exam. Candidates can refer to sources (online and offline) to know what is to be studied. Knowing the syllabus has its own advantage; the syllabus is nothing but the lessons to be studied. If candidates know what is to be studied, they can avoid all that does not need to be studied and save their precious time.

Know the exam pattern: The exam pattern is nothing but the way the questions will be asked in the exam. Students have to know whether they have to answer questions in an objective or a descriptive manner, and based on that, they can decide on an appropriate study methodology. Answering questions in objective type may require extensive study, while if the questions are to be answered in a descriptive manner, then an in-depth study of all the topics may have to be done.

Devise a study plan: The focus must be on devising a study plan taking into consideration the extent of the syllabus, which is nothing but lessons that are to be studied as a part of preparation for the exam. The study plan must have a good time duration for all the topics. No topics must be left incomplete or unstudied. One may not say, questions may be asked even from those lessons which one often leaves unstudied.

Frequent tests and revisions: Candidates must know where they stand when it comes to preparing for the exam. The best way to know their preparedness is to take mock tests at frequent intervals. The scores in the mock exams can be used to analyse where they score the best and where their score is lowest, and then restudy the lessons where they do not have a strong hold. Post restudy, they can take a mock test once again and analyse the scores. In case of improvement, they can proceed to study new topics. If there is any room for improvement, candidates can study the same subject again and go for a mock test.

Consult experts and previous toppers: A word with experts will also help the students a lot. Experts are those who are well-versed in the subject, and they can offer valuable study guidance to the students. They can tell students about the right way to approach the subject for study. Previous toppers can offer advice on a study plan, as they have already tasted success; they can teach those who are about to write the test. Toppers from the previous years can also tell students what has to be done on the exam day.
