Amrita Chennai Wins 1st Place at Amaravati Quantum Valley Hackathon 2026

A remarkable milestone in innovation and cybersecurity was achieved by the Chennai Campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham as its student team secured 1st Place at the Grand Finale of the Amaravati Quantum Valley Hackathon 2026. The prestigious Amrita Chennai hackathon, organised by Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, was hosted at Dhanekula Institute of Engineering & Technology, Vijayawada, on 7 February 2026.
This national-level competition brought together some of the brightest young minds in quantum computing and advanced cybersecurity from across the country. Standing out among tough competition, the team from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE–Cyber Security) demonstrated technical excellence, innovation, and real-world relevance.

🏆 Winning Team – Final Year (CSE-CYS)
The Amrita Chennai winning team comprised six final-year students who showcased exceptional teamwork and technical depth, such as:
-
Prattipati Anshitha
Chitra Harini
Mokshagna Bhuvan Chowdary

Gundu Bhavana
P. Sai Keerthan
Kapil Anirudh

Faculty Mentor / SPOC:
Dr S. Baghavathi Priya, Associate Professor, CSE
Under the guidance of Dr S. Baghavathi Priya, the students translated complex quantum concepts into a practical, functional prototype, an achievement that reflects both academic rigour and hands-on learning.
💡 The Winning Solution – AQVH911
The team addressed Problem Statement AQVH911 by developing a basic simulator for Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) using the BB84 Protocol.
The BB84 protocol is one of the foundational algorithms in quantum cryptography, designed to enable secure communication by leveraging the principles of quantum mechanics. Unlike classical encryption methods, QKD ensures that any attempt at eavesdropping can be detected, making it a future-proof solution in the era of quantum computing.

What set Amrita Chennai’s solution apart was:
-
Clear conceptual demonstration of quantum principles
Accurate simulation of the BB84 protocol
Strong focus on cybersecurity applications
Practical implementation aligned with emerging quantum-ready systems
The project successfully bridged theoretical quantum physics concepts with applied cybersecurity practices—an approach that impressed the jury for its clarity, technical rigour, and forward-looking relevance.
🎖️ Awards & Recognition
For their outstanding performance, the team received:
-
₹50,000 prize money
Winner certificates
Medals and a commemorative memento
The awards were presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, adding significant prestige to the recognition.
Thus, competing at such a high level and receiving acknowledgement from state leadership underscores the magnitude of this achievement.
Strengthening Amrita’s Leadership in Quantum & Cybersecurity
This victory highlights Amrita Chennai’s strong emphasis on advanced computing, quantum technologies, and experiential learning. By encouraging students to work on cutting-edge challenges, the institution continues to build a future-ready ecosystem focused on research, innovation, and national impact.
Quantum computing and post-quantum cybersecurity are rapidly emerging as critical domains worldwide. Through initiatives like this, Amrita is not only preparing students for next-generation technological shifts but also positioning itself as a leader in quantum research education.
Participation in platforms like AQVH 2026 demonstrates the university’s growing footprint in national innovation challenges. It also reflects the effectiveness of its academic mentorship, industry-aligned curriculum, and research-driven learning environment.
A Proud Moment for Amrita Chennai
Winning 1st place at a prestigious quantum-focused hackathon is more than a competition victory; it is a statement of capability, vision, and commitment to technological excellence.
