Tier-II Exam Pattern: What to Expect

Unlike the objective-only Tier-I, the Tier-II examination for most posts is more comprehensive. Here is a post-wise summary:

Admission Open in VIT for 2026
Post Total Marks Exam Type Duration Interview
Assistant Secretary 300 150 MCQ (OMR) + 150 Descriptive 3 hours 50 marks
Assistant Professor / Director 70 Descriptive / Subject-based As notified 30 marks
Superintendent 300 Objective + Descriptive 3 hours
Junior Translation Officer 300 Hindi & English medium 3 hours
Junior Accountant 300 Objective + Accounts paper 3 hours

Important

There is no negative marking in Tier-II — unlike Tier-I which carries a ¼ mark deduction per wrong answer. Use this strategically: attempt all questions in Tier-II even if you are not fully certain.

Keep a colour printout alongside a valid photo ID ready before your exam date. For real-time updates, bookmark the official CBSE recruitment page and check it every few days as we approach the exam dates.
