Celebrating Success: FDRC’s 4-Year Journey of Building Harmony and Restorative Success

Revolutionizing Family Harmony Through Collaborative Efforts and Counseling Excellence
The Family Dispute Resolution Clinic (FDRC) recently celebrated its fourth foundation day at the Knowledge Park Police Station in Greater Noida. Established in partnership with Sharda University, the clinic has been instrumental in addressing family disputes through counseling and mediation, fostering reconciliation without the need for legal intervention.

As part of the Police Commissionerate System’s efforts to ensure women’s safety, The Family Dispute Resolution Clinic has emerged as a model initiative. The clinic operates twice weekly, offering a platform for families to resolve conflicts constructively. Distinguished attendees at the event included Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, Additional Commissioner Ajay Kumar, Sharda University Chancellor PK Gupta, and Vice Chancellor Dr. Sibaram Khara.
A Vision of Collaboration and Social Change
Chancellor PK Gupta highlighted the vital role of Sharda University’s psychology and law departments in the clinic’s operations. He emphasized the importance of societal welfare and announced plans to expand the clinic’s services to a full-week schedule. Gupta also lauded the work of Sharda University’s counseling center, which addresses similar issues and serves as an inspiration for other regions to adopt the FDRC model.
Strengthening Relationships through Understanding
Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh stressed the significance of preserving familial bonds. She explained that while breaking relationships is easy, maintaining them requires mutual understanding and effort. Singh praised the Family Dispute Resolution Clinic for prioritizing counseling over legal actions, a strategy that fosters long-term harmony. She also revealed that the state government is considering replicating this model across Uttar Pradesh to expand its impact.

Impressive Milestones
According to Prof. (Dr.) Rhishikesh Dave, Dean of the School of Law at SU, the Family Dispute Resolution Clinic was founded four years ago to curb domestic conflicts among married couples. In 2024 alone, the clinic resolved 199 out of 210 cases, achieving a remarkable 95% success rate. This achievement highlights the clinic’s effectiveness in mitigating disputes and restoring peace within families.
Acknowledging Key Contributors
The celebration also honored individuals who played a pivotal role in the clinic’s success. Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh and Chancellor PK Gupta recognized contributors such as Dr. Sanskriti Mishra, Dr. Avinash Kumar, Dr. Sachita Ray, Dr. Tarun Kumar Kaushik, Dr. Aksha Fatima, Sub-Inspector Lalita Chauhan, and Head Constable Anchal Saini for their dedication and impactful work.

FDRC A Model for the Future
As the FDRC steps into its fifth year, it continues to serve as a shining example of effective conflict resolution and community service. By combining the expertise of Sharda University’s faculty with the proactive support of the Greater Noida police, the clinic is paving the way for similar initiatives across India, proving that collaboration can lead to meaningful societal change.
