What Is HSCAP and Why Does It Matter?
If you are a Class 10 pass-out in Kerala hoping to get into a good government or aided higher secondary school, the HSCAP (Higher Secondary Centralised Admission Process) is your gateway.
Run by the Directorate of General Education (DGE), Government of Kerala, HSCAP is a fully digital, single-window admission system — locally called Ekajalakam. Instead of running from school to school with bundles of documents, students apply once online, list their preferred schools and streams, and the system handles the rest.

The process is transparent, merit-based, and district-wise — which makes it one of the most student-friendly admission systems in India.

Who Is Eligible for the Third Allotment?
Two groups of students should check the third allotment result carefully:

Group 1 — Students with Temporary Admission If you accepted a temporary seat in the first or second allotment, you may have been upgraded to a higher preference school in this round. If so, you must move to the newly allotted school and take permanent admission there.
Group 2 — Students Without Any Allotment Yet If you did not receive a seat in the first or second allotment, the third allotment is your final chance through the main process. Check urgently and act within the admission window.
Academic Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Plus One admission through HSCAP, a student must have:
- Passed SSLC (Class 10) from a recognized board — Kerala State Board, CBSE, ICSE, or an equivalent examination.
- For main allotment merit seats, students must have passed the CBSE Class 10 board exam. School-level CBSE pass-outs may be considered only if vacancies remain after the main allotment.
- No upper age limit is specified for general admission.
Seat allotment is based primarily on Class 10 marks and applicable reservation criteria (SC/ST, differently abled, sports quota, etc.).

How to Check Your Third Allotment Result Online
Checking your result takes less than two minutes. Follow these steps exactly:

Step 4: Once logged in, click on the “Allotment Results” or “Third Allotment Results” link.
Step 5: Your allotment details will appear on screen — including the school name, stream, and admission instructions.
Step 6: Download and print the allotment letter. You will need it at the time of admission.
Important: If you have forgotten your login credentials, use the “Forgot Password” option on the login page. Your SSLC register number and date of birth can help recover access.
What to Do After Seeing Your Third Allotment Result
Getting an allotment is only step one. What you do next determines whether you actually secure the seat.
If You Got a Higher-Preference School
- You must take permanent admission at the newly allotted school.
- Visit the school between 10:00 AM on June 29 and 5:00 PM on July 1, 2026.
- Carry all original documents and fees.
- You cannot retain your old temporary seat — it is automatically cancelled once you are upgraded.
If You Got the Same School as Before (Temporary Seat Confirmed)
- Your temporary seat is now confirmed as permanent.
- Visit the school and complete the admission formalities within the deadline.
If You Still Have No Allotment
- The main allotment process ends with the third round.
- You may explore special allotments or management quota seats in unaided schools after this.
- Contact the DGE helpline or your district education office for guidance on further options.
Documents Required for Admission
When you visit the allotted school, carry these documents — both originals and self-attested photocopies:
- SSLC Mark Sheet (original + photocopy)
- SSLC Certificate / TC (Transfer Certificate)
- Allotment Letter (printed from the portal)
- Aadhaar Card or any valid government ID proof
- Community/Caste Certificate (if applicable — for reservation category students)
- Income Certificate (if applicable)
- Sports/Cultural Quota Certificate (if seat is under that category)
- Differently Abled Certificate (if applicable)
- Passport-size photographs (at least 4 copies)
Note: An application fee of ₹25 is payable at the time of admission at the school. Online payment may also be available — check your allotment letter for specific instructions. If online payment is not possible, you can pay directly at the school counter.
Temporary vs. Permanent Admission — What’s the Difference?
This confuses many students, so let’s clear it up simply.
Temporary Admission means you have accepted a seat at a school, but you are still eligible to receive a better option (higher on your preference list) in a future allotment round. You stay enrolled at the current school while the system tries to upgrade you.
Permanent Admission means the process is complete — either you chose to lock in your current allotment, or the third allotment (the final round) upgraded you to your best available preference. There is no further upgrading after this.
After the third allotment, all admissions become permanent by default. The main allotment cycle is over.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Students often lose out not because of low marks, but because of avoidable errors. Watch out for these:
1. Missing the Admission Deadline The window closes at 5:00 PM on July 1, 2026. Even one day late means losing the seat permanently.
2. Not Downloading the Allotment Letter Some students arrive at school without a printout. Schools require the allotment letter during admission. Download and print it before you go.
3. Carrying Incomplete Documents Missing a single document — like the community certificate — can delay your admission. Prepare the full set the night before.
4. Ignoring the Upgrade in Third Allotment Students on temporary admission sometimes assume their old school is confirmed and don’t check the third allotment. This is a major mistake. Always check, because an upgrade means you must move to the new school.
5. Logging In with Wrong District HSCAP is district-wise. If you applied in multiple districts, log in with the correct district credentials to see the right allotment.
