No impressive show in JEE Main does not mean a closure of choices. Thankfully, there is an option of lateral entry into engineering programmers. Certain colleges are offering B.Tech in the lateral entry scheme. These courses can be joined after completing B.Sc course in any of the core science subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Electronics.
The route for a good career lies even in non-engineering options also. Engineering is not the only way for fostering a career in the technical arena. Non-engineering courses like Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA) can also be considered for availing jobs in the technical arena.
Determined effort will always yield results. If an aspirant is determined to go for engineering then a re-attempt of JEE is also an option.
But one has to ensure that preparation is better than the previous time. Candidates must also do a rethink on their preparation strategy previously, must ponder over the faults done then and rectify them and go ahead with preparation.
