MHT CET Exam: What is it?

The state-level Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) is used to choose candidates for admission to engineering and pharmacy programs at different Maharashtran colleges. The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell administers the exam annually.

Three question papers will be used in the MHT CET 2024 exam. Paper 1 will be maths; Paper 2 will be a combination of chemistry and physics; and Paper 3 will be biology. Those who are interested in enrolling in the engineering course should show up for Papers 1 and 2. Candidates for pharmacy programs are expected to show up for Papers 2 and 3.

MHT CET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

For Maharashtra State Candidates

  • Applicants must be class 12 graduates or plan to enroll in class 12 in 2024.
  • Along with any one course from the following list: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational course, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, and Physics and Mathematics as required subjects in class 12.
  • The candidate’s class 12 grades must be at least 45%. Candidates from the economically disadvantaged group, the backward class, and the persons with disabilities category must receive at least 40% of the possible points in class 12.

Non-Maharashtra Candidates

  • It is also possible for candidates who are not from Maharashtra to appear in the MHT CET. They might, however, not show up in the MHT CET since admission to the B.E./B.tech program will be based on JEE Main scores rather than MHT CET 2024 scores. Also, candidates who are not Maharashtrians are not eligible for reservation under the MHT CET.

OCI/PIO/NRI Candidates

  • Candidates who are OCI/PIO or NRI are not required to appear in the MHT CET. Based on their results in the class 12 or equivalent exams, these applicants may apply for admission. Following the MHT CET admissions procedure, separate counseling is done for OCI, PIO, and NRI candidates.

MHT CET 2024 Exam Pattern

The question paper will be set with 20% weighting for class 11 topics and 80% weighting for class 12 topics following the MHT CET exam format. There will be multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in this computer-based, online exam. Three question papers will be provided.

There are 50 questions in total in the first maths paper. ten questions overall from the syllabus for classes eleven and twelve, and forty questions from class twelve. Every query will carry two marks. The paper will run for ninety minutes in total. No failing grades.

There are 100 questions in the second Physics and Chemistry paper. There will be 50 questions in the Physics section and the remaining 50 in Chemistry. Ten of the fifty questions in each subject will come from the syllabus for class 11, and the remaining forty questions will come from the syllabus for class 12. The paper will run for ninety minutes in total. No failing grades.

Only pharmacy candidates may appear in Paper 3 of Biology, which consists of 100 questions overall. Twenty of the questions will come from the syllabus for class 11, and the remaining eighty will come from class 12. There will be ninety minutes in total. No failing grades.

MHT CET 2024 Admit Card

One week before the exam, the MHT CET 2024 admission card will be made available. On the website mahacet.org, candidates will be able to download their admission card. Candidates must use their application number and birthdate to log in to the website to download the admission card. On the day of the exam, candidates must print the page after downloading it and bring it to the testing location.
