NIMCET exam: Know everything about the great test here

NIMCET exam is one that every MCA course aspirant must know about.

A pass in this exam allows its applicants an opportunity to study MCA course in the prestigious National Institute of Technologys (NIT) located across the country.

NIMCET examIn other words, NITs located across the country admit students who get good score in NIMCET exam into MCA course they offer.

NIMCET exam is also known as NIT MCA Common Entrance Test and is conducted by an NIT every year based on the principle of rotation.

NIMCET exam for this year is being conducted by NIT Raipur. Every year about 25,000 students register for NIMCET exam and about 800 students get into NITs to study MCA course.

Students get to study MCA across 11 NITs situated in different parts of the country.

There is another benefit of writing NIMCET exam is that its scores can be used to gain seats in educational institutions other than NITs.

Many institutions other than NITs also provide admissions into MCA course offered by them based on NIMCET scores.

Masters in Computer Applications also popularly known as MCA has been a hotcake ever since the software industry has been making waves in the country.

As far as NIMCET for this year is concerned, the registration (application submission) began on 27 February and was closed on 11 June.

LPU College admission

The hallticket for NIMCET exam 2020 was made available for download from 11 to 20 October and the exam was to be conducted on 22 October.

The result for NIMCET this year will be declared likely on or before 6 November. The choice filling and upload of required documents 7 to 12 November.

The first round of allotment will be likely on 17 November.

NIMCET is a postgraduate level exam and is held in offline mode. The exam is of 120 minute duration exam.

NIMCET examQuestions in NIMCET exam are derived from Mathematics (50 questions), Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning (40 questions), Computer Awareness (10 questions), General English (20 questions).

The above mentioned is said to be the usual pattern and is provided for the sake of understanding for students.

However candidates willing to appear for the exam are advised to regularly visit the official website of the exam ‘https://www.nimcet.in/’ for clarifications as the pattern may also undergo changes.

NIMCET exam has total of 120 questions for 480 marks. Every correct answer gets the candidate 4 marks and a wrong answer leads to deduction of one mark.

No mark will be allotted of deducted on questions left unattempted.

Candidates have to attempt atleast 90 percent of the question paper of NIMCET exam to be confident of getting a good score for winning a seat.

Applicants who wish to apply for NIMCET exam must be an Indian citizen and must have passed a degree with atleat 60 percent passmarks.

Candidates from SC/ST can have 55 percent passmarks in their degree exam.

The degree must be a BSc or BSc (Hons) or BCA with Mathematics, Statistics or its equivalent subjects as one of the subjects.

Even BE/BTech candidates can also apply for NIMCET exam.

Also, candidates who have studied the above mentioned graduation (BSc, BSc Hons or BCA) from distance education also can apply provided their course is approved from UGC, AICTE of Distance Education Council of Government of India.

Candidates willing to apply for NIMCET exam has to apply online by visiting the official website of the exam ‘https://www.nimcet.in/’

Candidates can get into the official website mentioned above and click the appropriate link for registration and provide their their name, email and mobile number and other information and create their credentials (username and password).

Post creation of credentials, candidates can login and start applying for NIMCET exam.

Attempting to register at anyother time may not be successful.

However, attempting registration and applying for the exam may be successful when the appropriate link is activated on the official website at the right time.

Photograph, scanned image of applicants signature, qualification exam documents must also be uploaded during registration.

Candidates must also pay the registration fee after uploading the required documents and filling the form.
The registration fee for NIMCET exam is Rs. 2500/- for OPEN/OPEN-EWS/OBC category candidates.

For SC/ST/PwD category candidates it is Rs 1250. The fee can be paid through online banking, net banking, credit card or debit card.

NIMCET examThe cutoff for NIMCET exam will be released after the release of the result. Candidates have to ensure they get their score in NIMCET exam is either equal to the specified cutoff or above it.

Candidates whose score is either equal or above the cutoff can attend the counselling conducted by NIT.

The seats are allotted keeping in view the choices made by candidates, their score in NIMCET exam and availability of seats.
