UG Medical Admission 2024 is all about getting a seat in undergraduate medical and dental courses in colleges across India.
The process of registration is yet to commence for the UG Medical Admission 2024 all over the country.
It will begin with conducting NEET UG 2024 on 5 May 2024 and more than 20 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam and results will likely be released on 14 June 2024.

The first point every student aiming for UG Medical Admission 2024 must know is the number of seats in MBBS. There are about 1,06,333 MBBS seats in India.
NEET UG 2024 is an exam that not only provides admission into MBBS but also to AYUSH, BDS and BVSc and AH courses also.
There are over 26,773 BDS, 66,303 AYUSH, 6537 BVSc and AH seats.
There are over 660 medical colleges located across the country, they come under state government, central government and private categories.
Candidates keen on UG Medical Admission 2024 must know JIPMER (Puducherry), Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS New Delhi are among the well-known institutions for medical studies.

Tamil Nadu is said to be the state in India with the largest number of medical colleges.
This southern state has 74 medical colleges. Students focused on UG Medical Admission 2024 must know that Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are among the states with a good number of medical colleges.
Karnataka has 70, Maharashtra has 68 and Uttar Pradesh has 68 medical colleges.
The split of the seats is also another important point to be noted for students aiming for UG Medical Admission 2024. About 48,012 seats are in government medical colleges, while 43,915 seats are in private colleges.
Tamil Nadu happens to be having a maximum number of seats. It is said Tamil Nadu has about 11,745 seats, the next is Karnataka with 10945 seats and Uttar Pradesh is the next with 8485 seats.
Students aiming for UG Medical Admission 2024 must remember that the seat-filling process, also known as counselling for the graduate medical courses, takes place in two phases – All India level and State level.
All India Level which is also known as All India Quota (AIQ) counselling fills about 15% of all the seats in various states of India. Students from any state can apply for this quota.
However, the rest of the 85% medical seats will be filled by the respective authorities of the states in India. Students trying to apply for this quota must preferably be a native of that state.
UG Medical Admission 2024 counselling under AIQ is conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) which comes under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Government of India.
Students aiming for graduation in Ayurveda, Unani or Homeopathy must remember that UG Medical Admission 2024 counselling will be conducted by Ayush Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) which comes under the Ministry of Ayush of Government of India.
UG Medical Admission 2024 counselling for BVSc and AH courses will be conducted by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) which comes under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying of the Government of India.
Students aiming for UG Medical Admission 2024 must know that the above-mentioned authorities are for national-level quota admissions.
State-level quota admissions in Ayurveda, Unani, and Veterinary Sciences may be conducted by the respective authorities of various states. Candidates can visit the websites to know more in this regard.
The counselling in connection with UG Medical Admission 2024 will be held in phases which are also known as rounds.
Candidates have to register for the counselling and provide their choice of the course and the college they desire to study during the counselling with regard to UG Medical Admission 2024.
Those who get the seats in the initial rounds can convey their acceptance and pay the fees to join the course. Students who do not get the seat of their choice in the initial rounds can try in the subsequent rounds.
