UGCNET 2020 registration – National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the registation for UGCNET 2020 from March 16.
About the exam
Also known as University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test, it sees lakhs of candidates attending the test to determine their eligibility for the post of assistant professors or allotment of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in colleges, universities located across India.
The same exam used to be conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education ) till 2018 in 84 subjects at 91 cities across the country. Currently National Testing Agency has the responsibility of conducting the exam.
Current Schedule
The registration for UGCNET 2020 exam has begun on 16 March. Registration will go on till 11:50 pm of 16 April. Candidates can register for the exam within this time frame. Similarly, last date to pay fee for the exam is 11:50 pm of 17 April. The method to pay the fee is through credit card, debit card, net banking and Paytm.
Fee payable
Application fee for General category candidates is Rs 1000. General (Economically Weaker Sections) and OBC-NCL category candidates have to pay Rs 500 as application fee. For SC, ST, Physically challenged and Transgender candidates the application fee is Rs 250. Candidates must also remember that they have to pay the processing charges and GST as applicable.
Second schedule
Once the applications are filed, applicants will be given a chance to correct errors in them through from 18 to 24 April. The admit cards for the exam are to be downloaded from the NTA website on 15 May. The exam will take place from 15 to 20 June.

Post registration they have to sign in and start applying by filling in the required information in the set coloumns. After registration they can upload the scanned photo of their image and the signature. In the last applicants have to pay the application fee.

Pattern of the exam
The exam will be held as Computer Based Test (CBT) and will have two papers. Both the papers will have questions will be in objective type and each of them will have multiple choices. Candidates have to chose the right reply. Paper I will will have 50 questions and are for 100 marks.
UGCNET 2020 registration – Section I aims at testing the teaching, research aptitude of the candidate through reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness related questions. Paper II will have 100 questions for 200 marks and questions in this will be about the subject chosen by the candidate.

The questions in the second paper will test the level of knowledge in the subject he has studied post graduation. The duration for the entire test will be three hours and all questions are compulsory. Each question will have two marks.
The test will be conducted in two shifts during the scheduled dates. While the first shift is from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, the second shift will be from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Eligibility criteria
Candidates willing to apply for the exam must be a post graduate in humanities, social science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronics Science with a pass percentage of 55.
UGCNET 2020 registration – SC, ST and Physically challenged and Transgender category candidates should have the same above mentioned qualification with a pass percentage of 50. Even candidates who have written their final year post graduate exam and are waiting for the result can also apply.
These candidates will be taken on a provisional level and their awarding of assistant professor or research fellowship will be done once they pass their qualifying exam with required pass marks.

The exam is a prestigious one and candidates who pass this exam have lot of benefits. UGC (University Grants Commission) announced in 2013 that the candidates who clear NET will be eligible for jobs in Public Sector Undertakings (PSU).
UGCNET 2020 registration – PSUs can use UCG-NET scores for recruiting executives in their organisations in units related to science (RandD), management, corporate communications, human resource and finance. Selection of candidates for fellowships offered by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment/Minority Affairs will be done on the based on score of UGC-NET from June 2020 cycle onwards, so preparing for the exam in a very nice manner is a must.
National Fellowship for Scheduled Students, National Fellowship for Other Backward Classes and Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority candidates will be given taking into account the score in UGCNET.

Applicants must remember to upload photos in the right format and right size. They must give their own mobile number and email id to receive updates about the exam without any problem.
