Vellore Institute of Technology VIT University, Vellore was established in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the Vellore Engineering College by Dr G. Viswanathan, a former Parliamentarian and Minister in the Tamil Nadu Government under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. VIT got the University status in 2001 by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development. The university is approved by AICTE and recognized by UGC.

It offers 52 Undergraduate, 32 Postgraduate, 11 Integrated Programs, 2 Research programs, and 2 M.Tech Industrial Programs.
In addition to full-time Ph.D. Degrees in Engineering and Management Disciplines, Ph.D. in Science and Languages and Integrated Ph.D. programs in engineering disciplines are also offered. The candidates can check below the various eligibility criteria that they must check before starting with the application process:
Nationality: The applicant for admission should be a Resident / Non Resident Indian National / PIO Holder.
Age Limit: Candidates whose date of birth fall on or after 1st July 1998 are eligible.
Academic Qualification: Students who have passed or appearing in 12th or equivalent are eligible for VITEEE 2023.
Subjects: Students need to have Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English (PCME) for being eligible for all B.Tech degree programs.
Percentage: Students are required at least 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology (PCM/B) in intermediate. However, Students belonging to SC/ST or hailing from Jammu & Kashmir and North eastern states must have a minimum of 50% score in PCM/B.
VITEEE 2023 - VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) 2023 is the only way to get admission in the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) campuses.
VIT Engineering Entrance Examination will be conducted between 2nd and 3rd week of April 2020 and the test will be administered online at indicated centers at timings. Candidates need to go through the eligibility criteria for the exam. However, Candidates can apply for Direct Admission for the rest of the courses.
