CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020, registration date for the exam has been extended owing to COVID-19 situation till 15 May. The earlier set last date for submission of application was 15 April.

About the exam
CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 is about determining eligibility of the candidates for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for appointing as lecturer in the subjects Chemical Sciences, Earth sciences, Atmospheric Science, Ocean Science and Planetary Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences.

CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 is for those candidates who wish to become lecturers in the above mentioned subjects or pursue research in topics related to these subjects.

CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020Exam dates
CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 registration began on 16 March and the last date to register for the exam is 15 May after the revision. Before revision the date was 15 April.

The last date to pay fee for CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 is 11:50 pm of 15 May. The period to undertake corrections is from 18 April to 24 April previously, now this has been postponed.

The date to download hall tickets for the exam previously was 15 May, now this has been postponed. CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 was supposed to take place previously on 21 June.

The new dates for hall-ticket download, taking corrections in the applications registered will be announced later after assessing the corona virus outbreak situation.

Updates can be seen by applicants of CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 on the official website of the exam at ‘https://csirnet.nta.nic.in/webinfo/public/home.aspx’ at the appropriate time.

Eligibility
The age limit for applicants targeting the position of lecturership through CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 has no upper age limit. However the applicants for JRF should be 28 years old as on 21 June this year.

LPU College admission

Candidates who are M.Sc or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/B.Tech/B.
Pharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates can apply for the exam.

Candidates enrolled for M.Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of application form are also eligible to apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship.

Such candidates will have to submit the attestation form duly certified by the Head of the Department/Institute from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared.

B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC candidates; 50% marks for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates are also eligible to apply.

Candidates with Bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D/Integrated Ph.D program within the validity period of two years.

CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020

Candidates possessing only Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and not for Lectureship (LS)/ Associate Professor.

Specification of degrees (whether Bachelor’s or Master’s) as notified by UGC in its Gazette Notification No. F. 5-1/2013 (CPP-II) dated 5th July, 2014 and as amended from time to time, shall apply.

The eligibility for lectureship/ Assistant Professor of NET qualified candidates will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC. Ph.D degree holders who have passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991 with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship/Assistant Professor only.

How to apply
The application for CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 must be done online. The application process in on currently and candidates willing to apply for the exam can visit the official website ‘csirnet.nta.nic.in’

Registration can be done providing the name of the candidate, date of birth, information for the post to be applied and others.

Candidates targeting CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 must also upload the photograph of themselves, image of their signature and required documents like qualification certificates and mark sheets in the right size and format.

The right size for photograph is 10 kb x 200 kb and that for signature is 4 kb x 30 kb. Post application form filling, applicants have to pay the fee.

Fee payment
The fee to be paid for CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 can be paid online through netbanking, debit card, credit card. The fee amount is Rs 1000 for General and EWS category candidates and the same is Rs 500 for OBC (NCL) category candidates. Applicants from SC,ST and PwD categories have to pay Rs 250 as application fee.

The exam pattern
All the subjects in CSIR UGC NET Exam 2020 will have three parts and all of them will have multiple choice questions and there will be no break between papers.

Chemical Sciences
The total number of questions in Part A B and C are 20,40 and 60 respectively. The number of questions to be attempted in the three parts are 15,35 and 25 respectively. The marks for each correct answer in the three parts are 2,2 and 4 respectively. The negative marking is 0.5, 0.5 and 1 respectively in the three parts.

Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences
The total number of questions in Part A B and C are 20,50 and 80 respectively. The number of questions to be attempted in the three parts are 15,35 and 25 respectively.

The marks for each correct answer in the three parts are 2,2 and 4 respectively. The negative marking is 0.5, 0.5 and 1.32 respectively in the three parts.

Life Sciences
The total number of questions in Part A B and C are 20,50 and 75 respectively. The number of questions to be attempted in the three parts are 15,35 and 25 respectively. The marks for each correct answer is 2,2, and 4 respectively and negative marking for each wrong answer is 0.5, 0.5 and 1 respectively.

Mathematical Sciences
The total number of questions in Part A B and C are 20,40 and 60 respectively. The number of questions to be attempted in the three parts are 15,25 and 20 respectively. The marks for each correct answer is 2,3, and 4.75 respectively and negative marking for each wrong answer is 0.5, 0.75 and 0 respectively.

Physical Sciences
The total number of questions in Part A B and C are 20,25 and 30 respectively. The number of questions to be attempted in the three parts are 15,20 and 20 respectively. The marks for each correct answer is 2,3.5 and 5 respectively and negative marking for each wrong answer is 0.5, 0.875 and 1.25 respectively.
