IIT BHU ties up with great ISRO

IIT BHU will soon witness the establishment of Regional Academic Centre for Space (RAC-S).

RAC-S of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will soon make its way to the noted educational institution’s premises, thanks to the MoU between the two organisations.

IIT BHUDirector of IIT BHU Professor Pramod Kumar Jain and Dr. P.V. Venkatakrishnan, director of CBPO at ISRO headquarters signed the memorandum-of-understanding on behalf of both the organisations.

The MoU is aimed at taking up advanced research in the technology of Indian space programme.

IIT BHU director Professor Jain said RAC-s of ISRO will be great facilitator in giving a big boost to space technology activities in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.

IIT BHU will turn as a platform that would give a boost to capacity building, awareness generation and research and development activities of ISRO.

RAC-S would be made to enhance the utilisation of research potential, infrastructure, expertise that is available at ISRO and IIT BHU.

There is more to it than meets the eye as far as RAC-S is concerned.

Eminent institutions in the field of science and technology located in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will be made a part of RAC-S and IIT BHU will be the leader and project monitor there, say sources.

Research in space science and technology, space application, agriculture, telecommunications will also get a big boost with the help of RAC-S at IIT BHU.

Who will benefit from RAC-S at IIT BHU? Students of BTech, MTech and research.

Short term projects for both graduate and post graduate engineering will be included here.

And also long term research and development projects
programmes that will lead to PhD programme will also be offered here.

Applications invited
IIT BHU is inviting applications seeking nomination for Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award.

IIT BHUAccording to a press release from Dean of Resource and Alumni Affairs at IIT BHU, Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Award (DAA) will be given to those who obtained degree from IIT BHU or its predecessor, namely – IT-BHU/BENCO/MINMET/TECHNO to recognize his or her outstanding contributions.

The outstanding contributions of the alumnus of IIT BHU can be in his or her profession, academics, research and innovation, industry/entrepreneurship or public life.

The contributions of the alumni should be self-evident to the peers in the respective category. The awards to the alumni will be conferred on Basant Panchami Day.

The applications received for the award will be scruitinised and selected by a committee comprising Director of IIT BHU, Director of IIT Kanpur, Dean of Resource and Alumni of IIT BHU and President of The Benares Alumni Association of IIT BHU.

The recommendations of the committee would be sent to the Chairman of BOG for approval.

The award would be presented to alumni who have done worth noting work with a citation and a cash component of Rs 51,000.

The nominations received during the last two years but are not selected for the award would also be eligible for the consideration.

The nomination form is available at the website of IIT BHU at ‘https://iitbhu.ac.in/deans/dora’ Once the above webpage downloads, applicants can see a button ‘Nomination Form’ written in brown colour.

The form is available in PDF and DoCx formats, applicants can choose any one of them and download them and fill them.and then scan them and send them through the email to ‘dora@iitbhu.ac.in’ which is the email of the office of Dean (Research and Alumni Affairs).

A copy of the nomination form can be sent to another email ‘resource@iitbhu.ac.in’

The nominations for the award can be sent by Heads of centrally funded academic/research institutions, heads of public sector units, presidents of national scientific and engineering, academies and societies.

IIT BHUEven secretaries of departments, ministries dealing with science and technology, heads of prominent organisations in India and eminent persons can also send nominations.

Self nominations also will be accepted. The start date for receiving nominations is 11 December and last date to receive applications (nominations) is 31 December.
