IIT Hyderabad convocation, 1103 degrees conferred

IIT Hyderabad conducted its convocation recently where over 1103 degrees were conferred.

The event was an impressive affair and B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog was the chief guest for the event.

A total of 1090 students were conferred 1103 degrees with four gold medals and 38 Silver Medals. For the first time, there is more to it than meets the eye.

First Time

This number also includes the first-time graduating batch of its BTech in Biomedical Engineering.

It also includes MTech in Transportation Engineering, Semiconductor Materials and Devices, and Heritage Science and Technology (online), say sources from IIT Hyderabad.

Chief Guest

Chief Guest BVR Subrahmanyam said they (students) should be a heroes of science that a Viksit Bharat demands.

May you bend your efforts towards ensuring that technology uplifts the masses, not divides them further, he said during the convocation at IIT Hyderabad.

May you leverage your identity not just for personal glory but for public good, said chief guest at IIT Hyderabad convocation.

Chairman of BoG of IIT Hyderabad

Dr BVR Reddy, Chairman, BoG, IIT Hyderabad said as they (students) leave this institution today, they should carry with them the wisdom imparted by their educators.

You are equipped with the tools to tackle the challenges ahead, said Chairman of BoG of IIT Hyderabad.

The future is in your hands and have to embrace lifelong learning, leverage groundbreaking technologies and use them responsibly.

They should prioritize sustainability in every endeavour, and uphold the values that define the best of humanity, he said at the convocation of IIT Hyderabad.

Prof B S Murthy, director of IIT Hyderabad presented the Institute Report for Academic Year 2023-2024.

It was indeed a magnificent year of IIT Hyderabad, being Ranked #3 in NIRF-Innovation 2023.

It ranked among top 10 top Engineering institutes for the eighth consecutive year in NIRF ranking and being ranked #8 for the 2023 fills all of us with joy, said director of IIT Hyderabad.

IIT Hyderabad has a vibrant Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem to support startups in different stages, he said.

In the last 6 years, it has supported more than 190 startups which have created more than 1100 jobs and more than Rs. 1250 Cr of revenue.

This year also saw the launch of IITH-Greenko BUILD program for supporting 75 student winners across the country in their early idea validation journey with financial and mentoring support.

IIT Hyderabad has started providing a Diploma to any BTech student who has completed 50% of credits and provides an opportunity to them to come back within the next five years to complete the rest of credits.

IITH is pioneering the introduction of new academic courses aligned with current trends.

In 2023-24, IITH introduced several new programs in UG, PG and PhD level.

Through its hybrid classrooms, IITH has, for the first time in the country, tried to break the barriers in learning by launching Open to All Teaching (OAT) through its Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), he said.

Prof. Murty congratulated the graduating students and urged them to “lead, innovate, and effect positive change.
