IIT Hyderabad (Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad) has announced admissions into PhD courses for 2020. IIT Hyderabad offers PhD admissions in 14 departments.

The 14 departments where students can undertake doctorate courses are Artificial Intelligence, Bio Medical Engineering, Bio Technology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering.

The other departments are Design, Electrical Engineering, Liberal Arts, Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical And Aerospace Engineering, Physics.

Important dates
The application process is currently going on and the last date to apply is different for various courses. The last date for applying is 15 April for Artificial Intelligence, Bio-Medical Engineering, Bio Technology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering.

Candidates willing to apply for PhD in Design, the last date is 30 April. The last date for application to PhD course in Physics is 5 May and 1 May for Liberal Arts.

Last date to apply for PhD in IIT Hyderabad in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is again 15 April. Applicants must fill the application before 4 pm of the respective last dates.

How to apply
Candidates must remember that the applications for the doctorate courses must be filled online. Candidates must click the link ‘https://www.iith.ac.in/admissions/login/phdAdmLoginHome‘ and register by providing information like email id, mobile number.

The registration process will generate user name and password. Post generation of user name and password, candidates must provide the login id and password which you had chosen at the time of Registration with the system.

When ever they login for the first time the system will ask them for secret key which they received through the email at the time of registration. After they login they have to ‘Click here to Apply’and choose the department by clicking on arrow of corresponding department.

The application form must be filled with right details by clicking on appropriate arrows. Once the information is filled in the form the applicants need to click on either save/submit button so that your data will be stored in the system.  Post application filling, candidates have to pay application fee.

Application fee
The fee for applying for PhD courses in IIT Hyderabad is Rs 300 for General and OBC category candidates, SC,ST and PwD category candidates have to pay Rs 150 while applying for PhD in IIT Hyderabad. Application fee for female candidates is also Rs 150.

Payment method
The method to pay fees for applying for PhD courses in IIT Hyderabad is through SBI Collect. Candidates must save the reference document obtained from the Bank at the time of paying the fee.

Candidates must save ‘SBCollect Reference Number’ in Payment Reference Number column of Application Fee Page. And, upload the reference document by clicking the link provided in Checklist page.

Finally the application form can be submitted after paying the fee by clicking ‘Submit Application’ button. After the final submission candidates can take a print out and keep it with themselves.

Method of selection for PhD in IIT Hyderabad
Candidates are selected based on their performance in the written test and interview.

Points to remember
If the applicant is called for the Written test/Interview they need to carry all their documents, printout of their application which they will receive through email after last date of submission, payment reference document and certificates with them.

One can apply to several departments. If an applicant wants to apply to several departments they need to fill a separate application for each department you want to apply.

To fill their application for the department “Mechanical” for example, must first login to their system and choose “Mechanical” in the list of department names.

Candidates must note that they need to fill all their details for each department. They need to pay the application fee separately for each department. They can keep on updating your application,upload the payment reference document and photo till the last date.
