IIT Jodhpur harnesses great generative AI

IIT Jodhpur researchers have achieved a significant breakthrough by developing cutting-edge applications of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI).
These applications aimed at addressing critical challenges across sectors such as transport, healthcare, law enforcement and neurology.

IIT Jodhpur research team
With traffic accidents and road congestion posing major threats to public safety, the IIT Jodhpur research team is developing AI-powered vehicular systems capable of predicting traffic patterns, anticipating collisions, and improving traffic flow management.
These innovations leverage GenAI simulations of real-world driving conditions, empowering city planners and authorities to enhance road safety and reduce fatalities.
Healthcare
In the healthcare domain, the research is transforming neurological care through wearable devices that detect seizures and monitor brain health in real-time, say IIT Jodhpur researchers.

By analyzing complex medical data, these AI systems enable early diagnosis, personalized treatment, and more informed care decisions—bringing hope to patients and caregivers alike.

Neurology
In neurology, GenAI tools are being used to predict brain activity patterns, offering new insights into conditions such as epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease.

By combining patient data with advanced algorithms, these solutions promise better diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.
AI for improving everyday life
Prof. Debasis Das said their vision is to ensure that artificial intelligence does not remain confined to laboratories.
We are committed to developing technologies that improve everyday life while supporting India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, he said.
‘Our solutions are designed not just for industry, but for every citizen seeking a safer, healthier, and more equitable future.’

Socially relevant technologies
The research is being supported by an interdisciplinary team of faculty members and students (PhD, MTech and BTech) and has attracted funding from prestigious national and international agencies including DST, SERB, ANRF, MEITY, NSF (USA), and NSTC (Taiwan).
With a focus on socially relevant technologies such as AIoT-based healthcare systems, blockchain-enabled governance tools and quantum technologies, IIT Jodhpur is emerging as a leader in responsible and impactful AI research.

About IIT Jodhpur
Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur was established in 2008, to foster technology education and research in India.
The Institute is committed to technological thought and action to benefit the economic development of India.
Scholarship in teaching and learning; Scholarship in research and creative accomplishments; and relevance to Industry are three driving forces for us at IIT Jodhpur.
IIT Jodhpur functions from its sprawling residential Permanent Campus of 852 acres on National Highway 65, north-northwest of Jodhpur towards Nagaur.
This campus is meticulously planned and envisioned to stand as a symbol of academics – simple, but deep.
The Institute is committed to a multidisciplinary approach to technology development. Hence, it has established state-of-the-art laboratories for basic research and has organised its academic degree programs through departments, while coordinating research activities through Centers for Technologies.
With an idea to showcase the rich heritage and culture of Rajasthan, the EBSB club was started at IIT Jodhpur in December 2019 with an objective to provide the opportunity to one and all and in the process helps in understanding the heritage of the beautiful blue city of Jodhpur.
