IIT Madras records 19% increase in internship offers

IIT Madras attracted attention when it recorded a 19% increase in internship offers. They were received on day one of campus internship drive for students of the 2023-24 batch.


⮚ 19 International internship offers were received from seven companies
⮚ 17 percent increase in the number of students who secured an internship
⮚ 51 percent increase in number of companies that visited IIT Madras for Internship
Importance
Highlighting the importance of Internships, Prof. Sathyan Subbiah, Advisor (Placement & Internship), IIT Madras, said, an internship is now an essential component for the launching of a successful and fulfilling career for students.

It enables them to imply their skills and knowledge acquired during their curriculum in a real-life work environment, said Prof Sathyan .
I’m happy with the efforts made by our team to enable students to get internships despite turbulent conditions, he said.

Highlighting the efforts of IIT Madras student team in coordinating the internship drive, Mr. Mevit Mathew, Student Academic Affairs Secretary, IIT Madras, said they are extremely delighted that despite the volatile market conditions, we had a jump in day 1 offers, setting a new record.
The diversity of roles and new recruiters is a testament to varied and robust capabilities of IITM students, he said.

The unprecedented rise in the number of recruiters both shows the trust recruiters place on IIT Madras students and the efforts undertaken by the team, he said.
