Sources say, the proposal to reduce the counselling by one round with regards to IIT NIT admission was putforth by IIT Delhi.

If approved, the number of counselling rounds with regards to IIT NIT admission could be reduced. Post acceptance, the information will be sent to Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).

Sources further say, IIT Delhi is also said to have suggested that the result declaration with regards to JEE Advanced must also be sped up.
As per the usual practise, the IIT, NIT admission process should have already begin, as the academic sessions likely witness commencement by end of July.
However, this time there is lot of hinderance owing to corona virus outbreak. Most of the affairs in almost all the sectors have come to a standstill. Academic arena was not an exception.
Final exams, admission procedures are now delayed, needless to say even IIT, NIT admission is also not an exception.
The things are still far from being over. Early start of classes by October can turn into a reality if the counselling process is completed between September and October.
There is a view point that couple of students may not have admission as the number of rounds of counselling is brought down with regards to IIT, NIT admission.

However, sources say, the doing away the seventh round of counselling may not make much a difference. It is said the seventh round is mostly used by students to change to to their choice of course.
