JEE Advanced registration is the talk of the town currently and students can apply for the exam till 17 September.
This well-known competitive exam started attracting attention as JEE Mains April/September 2020 has been successfully conducted and its results also have been released.
The situation this year too is no different, except that the JEE Advanced registration has commenced late. This is because of JEE Mains April 2020 was conducted much late.
JEE Mains usually is conducted for second time in month of April every year. However, this year it did not happen like that.
Outbreak of corona virus was chiefly responsible for that. Outbreak began about more than four months ago this year and entire nation went into a lockdown.
Initially it was thought that lockdown would be of a shorter duration. As risk of contracting the virus refused to subside lockdown had to be extended.
This left little scope for conducting JEE Mains April this year on time, so JEE Advanced registration had to be postponed subsequently.
The chief qualification for JEE Advanced registration is that applicant must be among the top 2.5 lakh rank holders in JEE Mains April 2020, since JEE Mains April could not be held in time, JEE Advanced registration also had to be delayed.
As JEE Mains April was held from 1 to 6 September this year and its results were also declared a couple of days ago doors for JEE Advanced registration have been thrown open.
JEE Advanced is conducted by an IIT every year taking turns. This year JEE Advanced is being organised by IIT Delhi.
JEE Advanced registration is open for both Indian applicants and foreign students. JEE Advanced registration for foreign candidates was open by 10 am of 5 September.
JEE Advanced registration has been opened for Indian candidates on 12 September. For both the candidates, last date for JEE Advanced registration is 5 pm of 17 September.

The last date to pay the application fee with regards to JEE Advanced registration is 5 pm of 18 September. While the JEE Advanced registration will come to a close on 17 September, the exam will be held on 27 September.
Results for JEE Advanced 2020 will be declared on 5 October. Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) will held on 8 October. Results of AAT will be out on 11 October.
Seat allocation process will begin by 6 October tentatively. The seat allocation will tentatively end by 9 November.
The fee to be paid while JEE Advanced registration is different for native candidates and foreign candidates.
The fee to be paid is Rs 2800 for candidates of general category while JEE Advanced registration. The same for girls and reserved category candidates is Rs 1400.
Foreign candidates have to pay USD 150 while undertaking JEE Advanced registration. However, if foreign candidates are from SAARC nations, they have to pay USD 75 during JEE Advanced registration.
It is also interesting to note that JEE Main 2020 cutoff for JEE Advanced has been released.
The cutoff for other backward classes is 72.8887969 and the same for Scheduled Caste (SC) is 50.1760245 and cutoff for Scheduled Tribe (ST) is 39.0696101.
Cutoff for People with Disability (PwD) category candidates is 0.0618524. The eligibility for JEE Avanced registration is score among the top 2.5 lakh candidates in JEE Mains (April).
The same for foreign candidates is a pass in 12th standard examination or its equivalent with maths physics and chemistry as subjects.

Soon after the official webpage downloads, applicants can see two seperate links for JEE Advanced registration.
While link is for native Indian candidates who have passed JEE Mains 2020. The other link is for foreign candidates to register themselves.

Upon clicking the respective links a new webpage will open whose url is ‘https://jeeadv.nic.in/jeeadvapp/root/loginpage.aspx’
After the new page with above url opens, candidates can find two seperate registration columns.
Foreign candidates can click the button ‘Foreign National Candidates Direct Registration’ written in white colour on blue background to register themselves.
Post registration and creation of userid and password they can start applying. JEE Mains April/September qualified candidates can go to the next coloumn titled ‘Registered Candidates Signin’ written in white colour on violet background.
JEE Main qualified candidates have to write their JEE Main application number, password and security pin and enter to apply for JEE Advanced 2020.
For JEE Main qualified candidates, will get an option to provide an additional email id and phone number and also option of choosing examination city and class 12 exam roll number.
JEE Main qualified candidates have to upload the scanned photograph of theirs, class 10 and class 12 marksheet, category certificate if applicable, scribe request letter if applicable, DS certificate is chosen DS as yes.
If a JEE Main qualified candidate is a Overseas Citizen of India or Person of Indian Origin, then he or she must upload OCI Card, PIO Card, Foreign Passport or Citizenship Certificate.
After all the certificates are submitted while JEE Advanced registration candidates can move towards paying the application fee.
Foreign country applicants must upload scanned images of their photograph, signature, photo identity proof, citizenship certificate/passport, birth certificate for age proof, class 12 or equivalent marksheet and other testimonials if required.
After the above documents are uploaded, foreign candidates can move towards payment of application fee.
Foreign candidates can go for State Bank of India Multi Option Payment System (MOPS) and pay money using credit card.
Native candidates can pay the application through online banking, debit card, credit card. Admit cards for the exam will be made available at the appropriate time.

Below the downloads coloumn candidates will find a button titled ‘Admit Card’ applicants can click that and go ahead downloading hall-tickets.
JEE Advanced will have two papers, Paper-1 and Paper-2 and both are compulsory. Paper-1 will be held from 9 am to 12 pm and Paper-2 will be conducted from 2:30 pm to 5: 30 pm.
The questions will be asked from maths, physics, chemistry taught at 10th,11th and 12th standards in recognised institutions.
The questions will be in both multiple choice and non-multiple choice formats. As for the exam pattern, there is no standard pattern and it changes every year.
