MTech in E-Mobility course application submission is on at ‘https://code.iitm.ac.in/emobility’ till 26 May 2024. The course was launched by IIT Madras and is for working professionals.
The course has a strong relevance of content for industry professionals and it was conceived with industry and academic inputs.


The need for MTech in E-Mobility course
The transportation sector is undergoing a paradigm transition towards a sustainable future, for which E-Mobility is an important enabler.
While the initial ‘re-birth’ of Electric Vehicles (EVs) has been driven by cars, there is rapid electrification of 2-wheelers, 3-wheelers, and commercial vehicles.
To ensure good quantity and quality of well-trained manpower to drive this transition, it is imperative that working professionals undergo skilling in the domain of e-Mobility.

This would ensure that they would be well trained in the entire ecosystem in addition to the technical aspects of EVs and their aggregates.


There is no limit on the number of students who will be admitted to this MTech in E-Mobility course. All those who qualify and become eligible in the selection test can join the program.
Who can apply for MTech in E-Mobility course?
The applicants for MTech in E-Mobility must Completed a BTech/BE in any engineering discipline with a minimum CGPA of 6.0 (out of 10) or 60%. They should have a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
Selection Process
Applicants for MTech in E-Mobility course have to appear for a written test which will have questions related to fundamental principles related to maths and physics.
The exam has to be passed with required qualifying marks to be eligible for the next phase of selection for MTech in E-Mobility course which may involve an interview and document verification.

Point to remember
The applicants can complete MTech in E-Mobility course as PG Diploma or as a complete MTech program.
Any candidate who satisfies the eligibility of the UG degree and work experience can apply to study in the PG Diploma program.
No documents are required in this case apart from qualifying in the “Selection test” to enter the program.
Once they complete the course work and mini project and become eligible for the PG diploma.
In case the applicants want to proceed with the main project in order to get the MTech degree, they can provide the NOC and Letter of support from the company they work in at this time and if IIT Madras approves, continue with the MTech requirements.
MoU with IIT Madras
A company can nominate their employees for admission to MTech in E-Mobility course by signing an MoU with IIT Madras. As part of the MoU, the company should agree to permit them to carry out their projects in the company and provide senior employees who will be the guides.

3. After reading about the course, applicants can scroll down and press Registration
4. After pressing the above button, applicants will see another button Register which can be clicked.
5. Clicking the above button will open another webpage with URL ‘https://code.iitm.ac.in/code-programs/WMT-EM2024/’
6. After the webpage with above URL opens, they can provide their email and register. Post registration, they can fill the application for MTech in E-Mobility course and pay registration fee and then submit the form.
Registration Fee and Test
Candidates applying for MTech in E-Mobility course have to pay Rs 3000 as registration fee. The selection test will be conducted on 7 July 2024.
Fees
Applicants for MTech in E-Mobility course can either self-sponsor or their company can sponsor through MoU with IIT Madras. The fees would be Rs 6.71 lakhs per participant for a PG Diploma.
Those willing to complete the course as an MTech have to pay Rs 8.57 lakhs.
