NIRF 2023 Rankings were released and the Indian Institutes of Technology also took part in them. This story tells about NIRF ranking that IITs won in 2023 and also the engineering courses offered there at graduate and post-graduate levels.

Students who wish to study in IITs have to pass plus two in the science stream with maths/biology, physics, chemistry and have to apply for JEE Mains.

1. IIT Madras

NIRF 2023 Rankings gave this organisation the position of No 3 in the overall category. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the Twenty-Three IITs created to be Centers of Excellence for training, research and development in science, engineering and technology in India.

Established as the College of Engineering in 1961, the Institute was later declared an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963” and was renamed as ‘Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.’

It was then accorded the status of a Deemed University with powers to decide its own academic policy, to conduct its own examinations, and to award its own degrees.

3. IIT Bombay

NIRF 2023 Rankings gave this organisation a position No 4. It was established in 1958 and IIT Bombay was the first to be set up with foreign assistance. The funds from UNESCO came as Roubles from the then Soviet Union.

In 1961 Parliament decreed the IITs as ‘Institutes of National Importance’.

4. IIT Kanpur

7. IIT Guwahati

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The academic program of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995.

At present the Institute has eleven departments, seven inter-disciplinary academic centers and five schools covering all the major engineering , science, healthcare, management and humanities disciplines, offering B.Tech., BDes., M.A., MDes, MTech M.Sc., MBA and Ph.D. programs.

10. IIT Indore

Indian Institute of Technology Indore located in Madhya Pradesh, known as IIT Indore or IITI, is an institute of national importance established by the Government of India in 2009.

It is one of the eight new IITs, started by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (India), Government of India.

The institution started functioning from 2009-10 on a temporary campus at the Institute of Engineering and Technology of Devi Ahilyabai University under the mentorship of IIT Bombay.

Since, February 2016, IIT Indore has started functioning from its permanent campus. NIRF 2023 Rankings allotted position No 28 in the overall category.

11. IIT BHU

12. IIT Ropar

13. IIT ISM

The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) constituted under Institute of Technology Act, 1961 is administered through IIT Council-the apex body, Government of India under the Chairmanship of Honorable Minister, MoE for uniform and smooth governance of Pan-IIT in our country.

14. IIT Jodhpur

It is located in the Shivalik Range of the Himalayas, away from the bustle of the metropolis.

17. IIT Bhubaneswar
