TNSET 2021 registration has begun and individuals targeting the post of assistant professors can apply before July 7.

About the exam

TNSET-2021 is also known as Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test 2021.

TNSET 2021Annamalai University conducts the exam on behalf of Tamil Nadu Government for determining the eligibility of students from Tamil Nadu for the post of Assistant Professors in colleges and universities in the state.

TNSET 2021 will be conducted in General Studies and 26 other subjects in pen and paper mode.

If the pandemic situation persists, the exam can be conducted in online mode also.

Point to remember
The eligibility for Assistant Professor depends on the performance of the candidate in both papers of TNSET 2021 in aggregate.

Candidates who qualify in the test for eligibility of Assistant Professor will be governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned Universities/Colleges/State Governments, as the case may be.

Eligibility
Applicant for TNSET 2021 should have passed masters degree with 55 percent pass marks.

A relaxation of five percent shall be allowed at the Bachelor’s as well as at the Master‘s level for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes (OBC)(Non-creamy Layer)/PwD (Persons with Disability).

There is no upper age limit to apply for TNSET 2021.

Examination fee
The registration fee for TNSET exam is Rs 1,500 for applicants of General category. The same for BC/BCM/MBC/DNC category applicants is Rs 1,250.

SC/SCA/ST/PwD/Transgender category applicants have to pay Rs 500 as registration fee.

TNSET 2021Exam pattern

TNSET 2021 exam will consist two papers with multiple choice questions which will be held in two different sessions.

The first session of TNSET exam (Paper 1) will be for 100 marks and will have 50 questions and each one would carry two marks. The duration for Paper 1 is one hour.

The second session in TNSET 2021 (Paper 2) has 100 questions and each carries two marks.

The total number of questions in the second session are 200. The duration for answering the second session is two hours.

Paper 1 shall be of general nature and is intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate.

It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.

Paper II of TNSET 2021 will consist of 100 objective type compulsory questions; each question carries 2 marks, which will based on the subject selected by the Candidate.

Point to remember
PwD candidates would get an extra time of 20 minutes in the first session (1 hour 20 minutes) and 40 minutes for the second session (2 hours 40 minutes).

Timing
The first session (Paper 1) of TNSET 2021 will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. The second session (Paper 2) will be held from 11 am to 1 pm.

TNSET 2021Syllabus
Question paper for Paper I in TNSET 2021 is common for all subjects in which SET is conducted and it will be bi-lingual (English and Tamil). Paper-II of certain subjects will also be bi-lingual.

All questions of Paper II will be compulsory, covering the entire syllabus of Paper-II (Including all electives, without options). Syllabi for all TNSET exam subjects can be downloaded from the website ‘www.ugcnetonline.in’ and
‘www.csirhrdg.res.in’

TNSET office will not send the syllabus to candidates.

The procedure to apply for TNSET 2021 is online and no hardcopies of the application have to be sent to Annamalai University.

Candidates can visit the official website of TNSET 2021 at the appropriate time and click the required link for registration.

Applicants have to register and obtain username and password.

Post obtaining username and password, applicants have to login using them and start applying for TNSET 2021.

Candidates have to provide the required information, upload the needed documents, pay the registration fee and submit the application form.

The documents to be uploaded while filling the form for TNSET 2021 are provided below:

# 10th class marksheets

# 12th class marksheets

# Photograph of the applicant

# Scanned image of the candidate’s signature

# Category certificate (if applicable) if the applicant wishes to claim privileges like reservation

The registration for TNSET 2021 began on 7 June and last date for submitting applications is 7 July.
