CLAT 2022 registration has started and applications can be submitted till 31 March this year. This is the exam for individuals who are keen on studying law courses in well-known institutions.
The news did rounds in the recent past that CLAT 2022 registration would commence on 1 January and the test would be conducted on 8 May. The procedure to submit applications for this exam is online.

About the exam
CLAT is expanded into Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) and is a national level entrance exam conducted to provide admission into law courses at graduate and post graduate level. Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) conducts the exam.
The law courses are offered by 22 national law universities around the country. This national level law admission test is conducted once every year and CLAT 2022 is meant for this year.
The consortium was established on 19 August 2017 with the aim of improving the standard of legal education in India and justice system through legal education.
Important dates
CLAT 2022 registration will commence on 1 January and the last date to submit applications is 31 March 2022. The exam would be held on 8 May 2022. The date for download of hall ticket and other information would be made available on the official website at the appropriate time.
The eligibility criteria for CLAT 2022 registration depends on the type of the course candidate is trying to gain admission into.
Undergraduate
Candidates willing to apply for undergraduate programmes of law through CLAT 2022 must have passed plus-two from any stream.
Students of plus-two who would be appearing for their qualifying exam also can take up CLAT 2022 registration. However, these candidates have to produce the proof of passing plus-two exam by the time of admission.
Postgraduate
Applicants willing to seek admission into post graduate law courses through CLAT 2022 must be an LL.B degree holder or holder of its equivalent examination with a minimum of 50 percent pass marks.

Even candidates appearing for their qualifying examination also can apply. However they have to produce the proof of their passing the qualifying exam at the time of admission.
Point to remember
Candidates taking up CLAT 2022 registration must pass their qualifying exam with certain percentage of marks. The pass percentage in qualifying exam is 45 percent for general category applicants for undergraduate law programmes.
The same for SC/ST category candidates is 40 percent if applying for undergraduate course. The same for SC/ST category candidates is 45 percent.
Candidates taking up CLAT 2022 registration must ensure they have the required pass percentage in their qualifying exam.
How to apply
The procedure to take up CLAT 2022 registration is online. Applicants can visit the official website at ‘consortiumofnlus.ac.in’ to apply for the exam.
Candidates can visit the website for CLAT 2022 registration mentioned above and register themselves to obtain username and password.
Post obtaining username and password, candidates can login using them and begin filling the form. Applicants have to upload certain documents after filling the form and then pay the registration fee.
Post registration fee payment, candidates can submit the application finally and obtain the confirmation for the same. Candidates can take a printout of the final confirmation and preserve it for future use.

Registration fee
The CLAT 2022 registration fee is Rs 4000 for General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI candidates. The same for SC/ST category candidates is Rs 3,500.
The registration fee for applying for graduate and post graduate courses through CLAT 2021 is the same.
The candidates themselves will have to bear the bank transaction charges for remitting the fee online.

Documents
Candidates have to upload the below mentioned documents while CLAT 2022 registration:
# Candidates have to upload a passport size recent photograph of themselves with a plain background along with the online application for CLAT 2022.
# Signature of the candidate
# Category certificate if applying under SC/ST/OBC
# Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if you are applying if candidate is P.W.D
# Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if the candidate is coming under BPL category
Exam pattern
The pattern of exam is different for graduate and postgraduate admissions.
Graduate exam
The duration of CLAT 2021 for graduate admission is of two hours duration and has 150 questions. Each question has one mark.
A wrong answer will lead to deduction of 0.25 mark.
The number of questions per subject are:
English Language – 28-32 questions
Current Affairs, including General Knowledge – 35-39 questions
Legal Reasoning – 35-39 questions
Logical Reasoning – 28-32 questions
Quantitative Techniques – 13-17 questions
Post Graduate exam
The duration of CLAT 2021 exam for post graduate course admission is for two hours and will have 120 questions.
Each question in CLAT 2021 exam will be of one mark. A wrong answer will lead to deduction of 0.25 mark each.
Questions will be from subjects – Constitutional law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law.
Questions will also be asked from Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law and Labour & Industrial Law.
