No Admission to SSN College from the upcoming year: Chennai

The college has received approval for this progressive closure from both Anna University and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), two key authorities overseeing technical education in the region. Under the approved plan, SSN College of Engineering will gradually transition its academic and administrative operations into the broader university framework of SNUC.

An official announcement posted on the SSN College website made it clear that the institution is no longer accepting applications for any undergraduate or postgraduate engineering programmes from the next academic session. Prospective engineering students are instead being encouraged to apply to comparable programmes offered by the SSN School of Engineering at Shiv Nadar University, Chennai.

For thousands of students already enrolled at SSN College of Engineering — including those in BTech, MTech and research programmes — the change will not disrupt their educational journey. The college has confirmed that existing students will continue their studies and be awarded degrees through Anna University, as per the current regulations, until the final batch graduates. Faculty members will also remain in place to teach students through to programme completion.

This development signals a significant change in Chennai’s engineering education landscape.
