JEECUP counselling is the official process through which the Joint Entrance Examination Council, Uttar Pradesh (JEEC UP) allocates seats to qualified candidates across government, aided, PPP, and private polytechnic institutions in the state. Without completing this process, your rank card has no value — there is no automatic seat allocation.

The good news? The entire counselling process is 100% online at jeecup.admissions.nic.in, so you don’t need to travel to any office to register or fill choices. Document verification and college reporting happen later, but the most critical steps are done from your phone or computer.

This guide walks you through everything — dates, eligibility, choice filling tips, fee details, and documents — so you don’t miss a single step.

Who Is Eligible for JEECUP Counselling 2026?

Not every student who appeared for JEECUP qualifies for every counselling round. Here is what you need to know:

Main Counselling Rounds (Rounds 1–3)

• UP domicile candidates who appeared in UPJEE (Polytechnic) 2026
• Candidates from other states who passed Class 10 or Class 12 from a UP-recognized school — these students may be treated as UP domicile depending on the official notification
• Children of Central Government employees posted in Uttar Pradesh

Other State Candidates

If you selected “Other State” in your JEECUP application but studied in UP, your eligibility may still be considered under the main rounds. Check the official counselling notification carefully. Typically, 15% of seats across most institutes are open to out-of-state candidates.

Age Requirement

The minimum age to participate in JEECUP 2026 counselling is 14 years as of July 1, 2026. There is no upper age limit for most groups. Group I (Aircraft Maintenance Engineering) may have additional age and fitness requirements.

Minority Quota

Students from minority communities may apply for seats under the special minority quota available at eligible private minority institutions participating in the counselling process.

 How to Complete Choice Filling

Follow these steps in order. Skipping or rushing any step can lead to errors.

Step 1 — Register Online

• Visit the official portal: jeecup.admissions.nic.in
• Click on the “JEECUP 2026 Counselling Registration” link
• Log in with your Application Number and Password from the original exam registration
• Verify your personal details — name, date of birth, category, and domicile
• If any detail is incorrect, contact JEEC UP support before proceeding

Step 2 — Pay the Counselling Fee (₹3,000)

• After registration, pay the seat acceptance fee of ₹3,000
• Accepted payment methods: net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI
• This fee is non-refundable if you withdraw after accepting a seat
• However, if you get admission, this ₹3,000 is adjusted against your college fee
• Save the payment receipt — you will need it later

Step 3 — Fill Your Choices

This is the most important step. Here you select colleges and branches in order of preference.

• Log in after fee payment and open the Choice Filling window
• Add institute and course options from the list available for your eligible group
• Arrange choices from most preferred to least preferred
• Review the 2025 closing ranks to understand which colleges are realistic for your rank
• Add as many choices as possible — more choices = better chances
• Lock your choices before June 30, 2026

Step 4 — Check Seat Allotment Result

• Round 1 allotment is declared on July 1, 2026
• Log in and check if you have been allotted a seat
• The allotment is based on your rank, the choices you filled, and available seats

Step 5 — Choose Freeze or Float

After allotment, you must decide:

• Freeze — Accept the seat you were given; proceed to document verification and admission
• Float — Keep the seat but participate in the next round hoping for a better option

Step 6 — Document Verification

• Report to a District Help Centre anywhere in Uttar Pradesh (not necessarily in your district)
• Carry original documents plus photocopies of everything
• Verification is not available on Sundays
• Candidates who do not complete verification within the deadline lose their seat with no refund

Step 7 — Final Admission at College

• Report to your allotted polytechnic by the prescribed deadline
• Pay remaining admission fees
• Complete enrollment formalities to secure your diploma seat
• Classes begin from August 1, 2026
