BSACIST, more popularly known as B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology is ranked among the top 200 universities of the world in the ‘Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) category in the recently published Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2020. BSACIST is one of the nine Indian universities which achieved rankings at this level among IITM, Chennai. Happy news does not with that alone.

BSACIST  is also ranked among is also ranked among the top 300 institutions in two more categories. They are Quality Education (SDG 4) and Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 7). There are various reasons that helped BSACIST get a place among the top 200 universities.

Measures like making a major shift to renewable energy through a 650 KWp roof top solar power plant, energy
efficient measures like solar water heaters, solar light, LED Bulbs, publication of quality research articles in renewable energy area in high impact factor journals (earning more than 100 Scopus citations) have paved way for Crescent Engineering College to earn a position in the top 200 universities of the world in Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) category.

The practice of ‘outcome based education’ as early as 2014 when India has become a full signatory member of the Washington Accord leading to lifelong learning, Accreditation by NBA for 20 programmes, inclusive learning opportunities for the under-privileged people were some of the major parameters by which BSACIST has become a ‘Top 300’ University in the world, in the category ‘SDG 4’ (Quality Education of the Times Higher Education Global Rankings.

Apart from Crescent, IIT Kharagpur and Manipal University are the two other Indian Universities who have made into the band of 201 – 300.

Implementation of rainwater harvesting in all buildings, waste water treatment through two STPs, efficient liquid waste management and Zero discharge have helped Crescent Engineering College get a place in top 200 universities the in the category of ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’. A total of 19 Indian universities including BSACIST have made into Top 300 universities in this category.

It may be recollected that BSACIST, a 36 year old institute has been earlier accredited and awarded by various national and international agencies of repute like NAAC, NBA, NIRF, QS Star, QS I Gauge, QS India Ranking, QS Asia Ranking, Swachhata Ranking.

This institute is an active participant in several government initiatives like Swachh Bharat, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, JalShakthiAbhiyan, One Student – One Tree Campaign, Rain water harvesting, Green Energy and won several awards and recognitions.
