IIM-C students mentored on entrepreneurship – Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) organised a mentorship session on entrepreneurship in association with Discovery Channel for its students recently.

Entrepreneurs and co-founders of Licious, a startup company active in meat and seafood segment spoke to students on how to run a successful enterprise.

Vivek Gupta and Abhay Hanjura, Co-founders of Licious said having an idea is just a beginning, but to implement the idea successfully it is must to have a back-end process in place.

Professor Anju Seth, director at IIM Calcutta said their institute always welcomes initiatives aimed at bringing betterment to students. The mentor ship session created a platform for their students to engage
with experts in the industry, she said.

‘We are happy that the session was successful in inspiring next generation entrepreneurs to take up the challenge of establishing their own start-ups.’ The idea was to bring together bright minds to share experiences that foster learning and provoke mutually beneficial conversations.

We are glad that we could tie up with The Discovery Channel to achieve this objective, she said. Licious was featured in the first season of Discovery Channel’s ‘India Startup Stories’ which is a documentaries based on the journey of Indian startups who have made a massive impact on the Indian startup ecosystem.

IIM-C students mentored on entrepreneurship

The series focuses on how start-ups are going to drive the future by changing the way we use and consume goods and services, interact with technology and deploy them to solve pressing problems.

The two-hour session began with the screening of the episode featuring the journey of the founders and the challenges and opportunities ahead of Licious.

This was followed by a talk by the founders which led to interactive question and answer session between the students and the speakers. The discussion of topics related to funding, procurement, analytics, technology proved to be both engaging and enlightening.

The event added value to the budding entrepreneurial community at IIM-C and motivated the audience to kick start a plan of action
towards achieving their start-up dreams.
