The condition of eligibility depends upon the type of the course the candidate wishes to apply. Applicants who pass the course can get an entry into postgraduate courses in arts, science, commerce streams. The eligibility condition is different for each of these courses. More information is provided below for the sake of the students:
Arts (MA)
Candidates must have passed degree in the respective discipline from a recognised institution. For certain courses in arts, candidates from allied disciplines can also be allowed to apply. The information regarding the eligibility can be seen in the prospectus or admission related notification.
Commerce (MCom)
Candidates must have passed degree in the commerce (BCom) from a recognised institution. Candidates who are appearing for their final year exam in their qualifying degree or have appeared for the final exams and are waiting for the results can also apply. However, they have to pass exams and then provide a proof for it by the time of admission.
Science (MSc)
Candidates must have passed degree in the relevant science discipline (BSc from a recognised institution. For example: Candidates who wish to study Agriculture at PG level must have passed Agriculture (BSc Agriculture) at graduate level.
Candidates who are appearing for their final year exam in their qualifying degree or have appeared for the final exams and are waiting for the results can also apply. However, they have to pass exams and then provide a proof for it by the time of admission.
Candidates have a choice as far as exams are concerned, the test is conducted in online and offline mode. Individuals can choose either of the two according to their convenience. The questions have to be answered in 3 hours 30 minutes. The exam is divided into two parts - PGAT 1 and PGAT 2.
PGAT 1 is conducted for 90 minutes and PGAT 2 is conducted for a duration of two hours. The questions will be in multiple choice format. More information is being provided here below for the sake of the students in a tabular format:
