Eligibility criteria for GRE 2022

There is no specific educational qualification required for taking up this exam. Individuals who have done any degree or diploma or postgraduation can appear for the test. This exam just tests the academic readiness of the candidates to take up higher education, and is not an exam conducted to provide admission into any course, so people with any qualification can apply.

ETS has not announced any official statement regarding the qualification required to appear for GRE Exam. However, candidates are expected to possess a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

Age limit/Identity card

There is no age limit set for candidates wanting to appear for their GRE test. The candidates must have their valid passport or Aadhar Card, they have to produce either one of them at the test centre while appearing for the exam.

Exam pattern for GRE 2022

There are three modes for conducting the exam - online, offline and remote proctored modes. Online mode is where candidates will answer questions on a computer, offline mode comprises registering answers on a separate sheet and remote proctored mode is where candidates can take the test on a computer from their homes. The candidates can take the exam in any one of the above mentioned modes as per their convenience. 

The questions to be answered depend on the type of the exam the candidates are appearing - GRE General Test and GRE Subject Test. GRE General has questions related to Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA), Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning. GRE Subject Test has questions related to maths, physics, chemistry, english and biology. More information is being provided below in a tabular format:
