The condition of eligibility to apply for the exam depends on the type of the course the candidate is desiring to apply through the exam. A pass in plus-two is must to apply for graduate course. Aspirants of postgraduate courses must pass bachelors degree in the relevant discipline. Those who are aiming for doctorate must pass postgraduation in the relevant discipline. More information is provided below for the sake of the students:
BTech
The candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject. They should have secured at least 60% marks in the above subjects taken together.
Other UG courses
For Science/Commerce/Humanities programs at the UG level, students should have passed or appeared in 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board any stream.
PG courses
For Science/Commerce/Humanities/Management programs at the PG level, students who have passed or appeared in Bachelor Degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized University can apply.
Candidates who have passed national level exams like CAT/XAT/GMAT/MAT can also apply for management courses. They can likely get exemption from attending JET and can take part in the further admission procedure directly which comprises Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
The exam is conducted in offline and online mode and candidates can choose either of them as per their convenience to write the test. Offline mode is where answers are registered on a separate answer sheet. Online mode is where candidates answer questions of the test on a computer. The questions to be answered depends on the subject the candidates wants to seek through this test.
Maths, Physics, Chemistry have to be answered by students willing to join engineering through this exam. Candidates aiming for biotechnology oriented or biology oriented courses in graduation have to answer biology questions instead of maths along with physics and chemistry. Students focused on postgraduation courses have to answer questions related to graduation level lessons in the subject in which they wish to do postgraduation.
Candidates who are focused on management must answer questions related to topics from General Knowledge, Service Aptitiude, Logical Reasoning, Business Aptitude, General Awareness, Language Skills (English) while preparing for the exam. Those aiming for computer applications course either at bachelors or masters level can answer questions related to computer science taught at plus-two or graduation level along with other subjects.
