JEE Advanced 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates can check the eligibility criteria below to appear for JEE Advanced 2026:

Age limit: There is an age limit to appear for JEE Advanced 2026.

  • Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2001.
  • Five years of relaxation is given to SC, ST and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1990.

Qualifying JEE Main 2026: Candidates should be among the top 2,45,000 (including all categories) in Paper-1 of JEE Main 2026. The number of candidates that are selected from each of the categories is as follows:

  • Attempt limit: Candidates get 2 attempts for JEE Advanced.
  • Appearance in Class 12 (or equivalent) examination: The candidates should have appeared in the Class 12 exam first time in either 2022 or 2026.
  • Admission in the IITs: The candidate must not have enrolled in any of the IITs before.

For the B.Arch Aspirants – Important Note.

  • To take admission in the architecture courses in the IITs, the students need to qualify for the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT).
  • The candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced can apply to appear in AAT.
  • B. Arch. The program is available at IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee only.

JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Pattern

Candidates can check the exam pattern here, which will be followed in the exam.

  • Mode: Since 2018, the exam has been conducted through online mode.
  • Paper: JEE Advanced 2026 will consist of two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2). Both papers are compulsory to attempt.
  • Exam Duration: 3 hours will be provided for the first paper and 4 hours for the second paper. Some extra time will be given to the PwD candidates.
  • Shift: Paper 1 will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and Paper 2 will be conducted from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
  • Type of Questions: Objective-type questions will be asked in the exam.
  • Language: The language of the exam will be in English and Hindi.
  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics will be asked in the exam.
  • Negative Marking: There is a provision of negative marking. It is different for each paper.
