Eligibility Criteria for NDA & NA 2023

Nationality:

  • Applicant must be an Indian citizen
  • Those who migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and east African countries of Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda, Malawi, Zaire and Vietnam or Ethiopia with an intention of settlement in India are also eligible to apply.
  • Foreign nationals: Foreign nationals (except Gorkhas) will be required to produce eligibility certificates issued by the Govt. of India.

Age, Gender & Marital Status:

  • Age: Candidate’s age should be between 16.5 – 19.5 years. The DOB must lie between  02nd January, 2003 and not later than 1 st January, 2006 are eligible
  • Gender: Only male candidates qualify for NDA.
  • Marital Status:The male candidate for NDA should be unmarried. Candidates are not permitted to get married until their training period is complete.

Qualification:

  • For Army Wing of National Defense Academy: Passed 10th & 12th level from a recognized board or university.
  • For Air Force and Naval Wings (Cadet Entry Scheme): Passed 10th & 12th level from a recognized board or university with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects.
  • Appearing: Candidates who are appearing in 12th level or waiting for result will be eligible to apply.

Physical Fitness:

  • Those who have resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the Armed Forces training academies will not be deemed eligible.
  • Candidates must be physically fit for admission to NDA according to physical requirements set by the commission.

 

Exam pattern for NDA & NA 2023

The exam will be held in offline mode and the questions will be in multiple choice format. Multiple choice is a format where each question will have more than one replies and the right one among that has to be chosen. The question paper is divided into two-parts - Mathematics and General Ability Test. 

Mathematics will have questions related to mathematics topics and General Ability Test will have questions related to general science, geography, history, current affairs, general knowledge. There is a negative marking and every wrong answer in mathematics would lose -0.83 and every wrong answer in general ability test would lose -1.33 mark.
