Eligibility for UPTET 2022

Age limit

The applicant must be in the age group of 18 to 35 years. Candidates who belong to reserved categories would be given age relaxation as per the norms prescribed by the government.

Educational qualification

The qualification is different for candidates who are applying for primary teacher and upper primary teacher. Information in detail is provided below for the sake of the candidates:

Primary teacher

Applicants can have anyone of the eligibility conditions mentioned below:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks Passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) 
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). 
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education) 
  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)
  • Graduation with B.Ed passed or appearing Candidates.

Upper Primary

Candidates must have any one of the eligibility condition mentioned below:

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) 
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). 
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. 
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) 
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. 
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

Exam pattern for UPTET 2022

  • UPTET Exam consists of two papers: Paper I and Paper-II.
  • UPTET Paper-I is for the candidates who will be teaching classes 1 to 5 while Paper 2 is for the ones who will be teaching Classes 6 to 8.
  • However, one can appear for both UPTET Paper I and Paper-II.
  • There are five subjects in Paper I while 4 subjects in Paper-II. 
  • There are 150 questions in each paper that has to be completed in 150 minutes or 2 Hour 30 Minutes. 
  • No negative marking is there for an incorrect or unanswered response made by you.
