Sengunthar Engineering College was established by Sengunthar Charitable Trust, has commenced its maiden voyage from the year 2007-2008 with a crew to work for the up liftment of the women students in the world arena and later in the year 2010-2011 it has been converted into Co-education college for the benefit of the rural students. It is started with the ambition of providing high class and modern education to compete the developing hi-tech and quality based educational society.
The college has its approvals from AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University of Technology, Chennai. It is one of the best colleges of its league.
The vision of the college is to inculcate futuristic technical education, humane outlook and leadership qualities so as to enable its students to encounter the current and impending technical challenges.

The admission process is both offline and online. For the offline process, the students have to visit the college campus and do the requirements from there. For the online process, the students have to visit the official website of the college. From there, the students can complete the admission registration process on the website itself.
The college has a three storied building with spacious class rooms to accommodate all the students pretty well. The other facilities inside the college campus are well equipped Seminar Hall, Drawing Hall, Computer laboratories, Modern Language laboratory, Library, Placement and Training cell and other infrastructural facilities satisfying the norms of AICTE. Each department is located with all engineering laboratories. The entire campus is spread in a total area of 12.83 acres.
One of the most amazing things of the college is the library of it. They have a DELNET facility inside the college campus. The library has a seating capacity of 100 students and organized into various sections which are manned by professionally qualified staff with a collection of about 14575 volumes and 7498 titles of books. They have books pertaining to the various courses of study in this institute as well as number of books of general interest. There is a Digital Library for accessing online journals with Internet connection.
The college lays extra importance on sports as well and encourages students to play sports. There are a lot of inter and intra college sports organised that the students take part in. There are sports facilities inside the college campus.
The college also helps the students by providing them transport facility. Transport facility is given to the students and the faculty so that it is easier for them to commute well.
To keep the students actively engaged inside the college and to let them have a more creative life, the college has a lot of student clubs as well. These clubs are run by the students and hence they are given creative freedom to showcase their leadership talents as well. Through these clubs, all the students are encouraged to take part in various activities and explore different interests throughout.
There are separate hostel facilities for both the boys and girls. The fee for both the hostels are Rs 50,000 for a year and for the special rooms, the charges are around Rs 57,000. The hostel is equipped with all the facilities such as a Modernized Kitchen, Ozone based purified water, Solar Water heater, Uninterrupted 24 hours power supply, Common room with television, In-door Games, etc.Other facilities provided to us are attached bathrooms, a clinic with a doctor for medical issues, transport facility, two beds, canteen & mess food, water coolers, electricity, a good internet connection etc.
There are wardens and ward boys inside the hostel separately to look after the student’s needs and care. The security of the hostel is tight and intact. There is restriction on the entry of the students or anyone who do not belong to the hostel. Boys are restricted from entering the girls hostel premise as well. There is a nice atmosphere created inside the hostels so that the students feel as if they are staying in the home away from their homes.
The hostel also comes with a mess facility that provides them nutritious and delicious food three times a day along with some evening snacks. The students have to assemble inside the mess to enjoy their food and they cannot take it to their rooms.
