About Ophthalmology

  • Anatomy and Physiology of motor mechanism
  • Physiology of vision, colour vision, accommodation
  • Binocular vision and its development
  • Maintenance of intraocular pressure
  • The Neurology of vision (Visual pathway, papillary pathways and reaction) dark Adaptation.
  • Optics – elementary Physiological optics, optics of radioscopy and other dark Room procedures and ophthalmic equipment.
  • Physiology of aqueous humour and its circulation and maintenance of intraocular Pressure.
  • Maintenance of corneal transparency.
  • Tear circulation
  • Blood aqueous barrier.
Recent Advances including investigative therapeutic procedure, Community Ophthalmology including national programme, rehabilitation of blind.

Pathology and Microbiology

  • Pathology of ocular and adnexal lesions (Inflammatory, neoplastic, lens specification etc)

Ophthalmology Course Eligibility

UG

Candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as core subjects. Independent entrance tests for UG programme (MBBS) are conducted by various state, central and private universities.
