The condition of eligibility depends on the type of the course the candidate is trying to apply through this exam. On a broader note, the applicant must have passed a bachelors degree in the relevant discipline from a recognised educational institution. More information is available in the table located below for the sake of the students:
| Qualification (M.Arch) | Candidates must have a qualified B.Arch. or equivalent degree from any recognized board or university. |
| Qualification (M.Tech) | Candidates must have qualified B.E/ B.Tech degree to be eligible for the examination. |

| Domicile | Candidates must fulfill local/non-local domicile status requirements. |
| Percentage | The candidate must have secured a minimum of 50% marks (40% marks for the SC/ ST category) in the qualifying exam |
The exam will be conducted in online format and candidates will be answering questions on a computer. The total questions to be answered are 120 in two hours or 120 minutes.
