Bachelor of Design (B.Des) is a four-year undergraduate programme in design, open to students from any stream after Class 12 and generally recognised as a University Grants Commission degree, with some institutes offering an AICTE-approved track. Spread across eight semesters, it builds skills in sketching, visual communication, materials and design thinking, with a choice of specialisation such as product, fashion, interior or user experience (UI/UX) design. Teaching combines studio practice, workshops, industry projects and a final-year portfolio or diploma project rather than only classroom lectures. B.Des suits students with a creative aptitude who want a career in design, product development or the creative industries, or who plan to pursue a Master of Design afterwards.
