Rank and counselling
The CEE rank is based on total marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry; ties are broken by marks in Mathematics, then Physics, then Chemistry, then date of birth and alphabetical order of name. ASTU does not conduct counselling and does not verify certificates; the counselling authority checks qualification and category certificates, and DTE Assam issues the counselling guidelines.

- Reserved categories are OBC, MOBC, SC, ST(P) and ST(H); OBC and MOBC candidates need a valid non-creamy layer certificate from the competent authority of Assam; for persons with disabilities the required percentage is that of the original category.
- 5% of B.Tech/B.E. seats in government engineering colleges of Assam are reserved for students who studied Classes 7 to 10 in government schools under SEBA and Classes 11 and 12 in state government schools or colleges under AHSEC (now merged into the Assam State School Education Board).

- Marking: 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer; marking more than one answer counts as wrong. The 480-mark total is 120 questions at 4 marks each.
- Question types and language: multiple-choice questions, in English and Assamese; question booklets come in sets A, B, C and D.
- Answer key: a provisional answer key is published; challenges are accepted online only, at ₹500 per question, refunded if the challenge is sustained; results follow the final answer key.

How to Apply for Assam Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) 2027
- Register on the CEE application portal, log in with the candidate credentials and fill in the application form.
- Upload a recent electronic photograph (JPG/JPEG, 25 to 35 kB, height 250 to 350 pixels, width 150 to 220 pixels, taken within two months) and a scanned signature (JPG/JPEG, 15 to 30 kB, height 100 to 180 pixels, width 150 to 220 pixels).
- Review or edit the form; data can be edited until the last date of submission, and no correction or change of category is accepted afterwards.
- Pay the application fee online by debit card, credit card or net banking, only through the link on the ASTU application portal.
- Save the application report (acknowledgement) and take a printout to produce at counselling; keep the same mobile number and email until counselling is complete.
- Download the admit card from the ASTU website (2026: 26 May to 4 June, tentative) with the application number or mobile number and password.
