Eligibility Criteria
The GEHU page says any student seeking admission to Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) or Graphic Era Hill University can apply for GECET, for undergraduate or postgraduate programmes, from anywhere in India. Paying the Rs 1,500 application fee makes a candidate eligible for the test. Admission to a programme still follows that programme's own eligibility rule.
| Level | Rule printed on the GECET page of geu.ac.in |
|---|---|
| Undergraduate | Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics compulsory; candidates appearing in Class 12 can apply if they meet the criteria at the time of admission |
| Postgraduate | An undergraduate degree in the relevant discipline from a recognised university |
The Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics condition fits the B.Tech syllabus. For BBA, B.Com, law, design and BA programmes the GEHU Dehradun programme pages ask for Class 12 in any stream with 50% or 55% marks, so the programme page rule applies to those courses.

Exam Pattern
The pattern below is the 2026 cycle's, from the GECET pages and the sample papers; no 2027 pattern is published.
| Feature | 2026 pattern |
|---|---|
| Mode | Online, remote proctored; the candidate takes the test from home on a laptop or desktop |
| Duration | 2 hours; the sample papers print 120 minutes for the aptitude and domain parts together |
| Question type | Multiple-choice questions |
| Part 1: general aptitude | Verbal ability, logical reasoning and quantitative ability; weightage 70% |
| Part 2: domain section | Subjects of the programme applied for; weightage 30% |
| Questions | GECET pages: 100 questions. Sample papers: 50 aptitude questions (30 of 1 mark and 20 of 2 marks, 70 marks) and 15 domain questions of 2 marks (30 marks), 65 questions in all |
| Negative marking | None, according to the sample papers |
| Calculators | Not permitted unless explicitly allowed, according to the sample papers |
| Courses per candidate | The GECET page as captured on 16 January 2026 said candidates may appear in up to 2 courses; the current page drops the number |
The sample papers state a marking scheme of 100 marks, while the GECET page counts 100 questions. The two official pages therefore disagree on the question count; both are shown.

How to Apply for GECET 2027
The application can be made on the dedicated GECET portal or on the regular admission portals of the two universities; GEHU Dehradun uses apply.gehu.ac.in.
- Start the online application on the portal (the GEHU page names geu.ac.in as the starting website; apply.gehu.ac.in is GEHU's own portal).

- For an offline application, buy or fill the form at any Graphic Era campus or admission centre for Rs 1,500, then complete the online application, upload a scanned copy of the form and enter the serial number printed on it. The Rs 1,500 is not paid again online.
- A confirmation arrives by email or WhatsApp once the application is complete.
- Appear for the online, remote proctored test on the scheduled date.
- The tuition scholarship follows the marks scored (slab table in the scholarship section).

| Application fee, online or offline | Rs 1,500 |
The pages checked give no admit card or slot booking step and no refund rule for the GECET fee.

GECET Scholarship Slabs
The GECET page ties a tuition scholarship to the marks scored. The two lowest slabs are one-time scholarships. The GECET page says the awards range from 20% to 100% in its FAQ and lists 5% and 10% one-time slabs in the table, so both are shown.
| GECET marks | Scholarship on tuition fee |
|---|---|
| 97.5 to 100 | 100% |
| 95 to 97.49 | 50% |
| 90 to 94.99 | 25% |
| 80 to 89.99 | 20% |
| 70 to 79.99 | 10% |
| 50 to 69.99 | One time 10% |
| 25 to 49.99 | One time 5% |
GEHU Dehradun also gives merit scholarships by Class 12 percentage, JEE Main percentile or CUET score in its fee tables, plus a 10% concession for girls and 5% for wards of defence personnel. The pages checked do not say how a GECET scholarship combines with those.

GECET and Admission at GEHU Dehradun
At GEHU Dehradun the admissions page says admission is strictly on the merit of the qualifying examination, completed online, with a Rs 1,500 application fee for all courses. GECET adds a scholarship route. The GECET FAQ calls it "a recommended pathway for securing admission and scholarships" that is "not strictly mandatory for all programs". The GECET page does not list the programmes for which it is needed, so the programme page should be checked.
The GEHU fee tables of the 2026 intake use 12th percentage, JEE Main percentile or CUET score (undergraduate) and graduation percentage or CAT, XAT, MAT, CMAT percentile (MBA) for their own scholarship slabs; the MBA page waives its aptitude test at 75 percentile in CAT, MAT, XAT or CMAT or 210 in NMAT.
