Overview

RBI Grade B is the Reserve Bank of India Services Board's recruitment exam for Officers in Grade 'B' (DR); dates for the 2027 cycle are not announced yet. The Board recruits for three cadres: General, DEPR (Department of Economic and Policy Research) and DSIM (Department of Statistics and Information Management). RBI names each cycle by panel year (PY). The PY 2026 notification (Advt. No. RBISB/DA/01/2026-27, 29 April 2026) invited applications for 60 posts: General 40, DEPR 10 and DSIM 10. Its written phases ended on 26 July 2026 and interviews were still pending, so the facts below come from the PY 2026 notification and are labelled as such. No PY 2027 notification was listed on the RBI Opportunities site on 5 October 2026.

The notification's vacancy table also shows the category-wise split and the posts for persons with benchmark disabilities. Selected candidates start on a basic pay of Rs 78,450 a month in the Grade B scale (Rs 78,450 to Rs 1,41,600 over 16 years); initial gross emoluments without house rent allowance were about Rs 1,54,936 a month in the PY 2026 notification.

How the stages are used

Phase I shortlists candidates for Phase II on aggregate marks, subject to minimum marks in each test, and the Phase II aggregate shortlists candidates for the interview. Shortlisted candidates also complete a personality assessment before the interview; the DEPR notification says it carries no marks. For DEPR the interview carries 75 marks and the final selection counts all four papers and the interview together. The Board checks age, qualification and category documents only at the interview, so no certificates are uploaded with the application. RBI arranges free pre-examination training for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates; the details are in Appendix IV of the notification.
