Selection and vacancies
Based on the CBE, SSC shortlists candidates for the PET and PST, which are held at centres finalised by the CAPFs. Eligibility and documents are scrutinised in detail at the medical examination and document verification, so candidates must check the criteria before appearing. Ex-servicemen are exempt from PET, but those shortlisted appear in the PST for record measurements and must qualify the medical examination. Vacancies in the SSF are filled on an all-India basis; vacancies in the other forces are filled State/UT-wise, with some earmarked for border-guarding districts and districts affected by militancy or Naxalism, so candidates apply with a domicile certificate or PRC of the State/UT chosen. - CBE: one objective multiple-choice paper, 80 questions of 2 marks each, 60 minutes; 0.25 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
- PET (race): male 5 km in 24 minutes; female 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes. Ladakh region: male 1.6 km in 7 minutes; female 800 metres in 5 minutes.
- PST: height 170 cm (male) and 157 cm (female), with relaxed standards for Scheduled Tribes and some regional categories; male chest 80 cm unexpanded with at least 5 cm expansion.
- Bonus marks for NCC certificates: 'C' 5%, 'B' 3% and 'A' 2% of the maximum marks (conditions in para 7.5 of the notice).

Syllabus
General Intelligence and Reasoning
- Mainly non-verbal questions: analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualisation, spatial orientation, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts and figural classification.
- Arithmetical reasoning, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding.
General Knowledge and General Awareness
- Awareness of the environment, current events and everyday observation in its scientific aspect.
- India and its neighbouring countries: sports, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general polity, Indian Constitution and scientific research.
- No special study of any discipline is required.
Elementary Mathematics
- Number systems, whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers and fundamental arithmetical operations.
- Percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount.
- Mensuration, time and distance, ratio and time, time and work.
English/Hindi
- Basic understanding of English or Hindi and basic comprehension.

How to Apply for SSC GD Constable 2027
- Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on ssc.gov.in. An OTR made on the new website stays valid for later examinations, and Aadhaar-based authentication is advised.
- Fill in the Online Application Form on the website or in the mySSC mobile app; a live photograph is captured during the form.
- Upload the scanned signature as a JPEG of 10 to 20 KB.
- Pay the fee online (BHIM UPI, net banking, Visa, Master or Maestro card, or RuPay debit card) before the fee deadline; a form without the fee shows as incomplete.
- Use the correction window if needed: Rs 200 for the first correction and Rs 500 for the second, for all candidates.
